Service History
Well after reading oil pump failure thread, i kinda scared the hell out of myself and was wondering what is the easiest way to get service history record for my car? can I just go to any dealership and ask for it? Also, the car has 31,xxx on it now, should i even be worried if something hasn't happened yet? should i be including katech pump when i do my first mods? thanks

If the service wasn't performed at a GM dealership, there is no way they would know.

I assume the only place they would replace an oil pump would be at a gm dealership due to complexity and car still under powertrain. I just want a record of all services done to it, to see if it was replaced or not. according to this dealership i called here, there is no gm dealer database that they can access? pretty sure she was blowing smoke up my ass

Of course if it's still under warranty, it's a no brainer to get it done at the dealership. |

Maybe I'm alone in this but I think the oil pump issue has been overblown.........if you look at the total number of cars built and the # of pump failures actually documented on this website, despite the fact that obviously not all ZL1 owners are on here, it feels like it's actually a small percentage. Nobody really knows what the actual failure rate is. Based on my build date I'm after the majority of the failures listed here, but even if it wasn't I'm gonna keep driving it hard and if it fails it gets fixed under warranty. But I get it.......when folks read the stories on here and others pile on with "Yep, there's an issue with oil pumps, beware!" it freaks people out. The Z06 heat soak issue was documented by more than just the forums. I don't know of any publications that have run a story about supposed ZL1 oil pump issues. If that happens then I'd start to think more about it.
