I have heard that the AR1 comes up to temp pretty quick. But I have no personal experience. I talked with the guys at the shop I get my CR1s from and they said that in their testing the CR1 was quicker than the AR1. But they were using lighter vehicles with less power (Civics, Integras, and S2000s).

This change is unfortunate. I have run S3R, S3, RR, and R7, but not on the same car. I find it hard to believe that the 3R is equivalent to the R7. As mentioned, the S3R takes a couple laps to get max grip. Will probably try RRs first. The S3 was a good tire on the SS so that may be an option as well.

NASA Time Trial and Super Touring 2022 Calculator is up. I guess they want people to run Toyo tires.
My 4050 lb race weight Camaro ZL1 Horsepower Limits by Tire in TT2: Hoosier A7/Goodyear 3R - 537 Avg RWP Toyo Proxes RR - 675 Avg RWP TT1: Hoosier A7/Goodyear 3R - 723 Avg RWP Toyo Proxes RR - 1,013 Avg RWP https://form.jotform.com/drivenasa/2...-tt-calculator

Depending on what size wheels you have (or are willing to buy) I would definitely go with the RRs or AR-1s, just keep in mind the AR-1s run very skinny so the "ZLE sizes" will be noticeably more narrow than the G3Rs. If anyone is going to try AR-1s I'd recommend 315 & 335/30/18 over the 305 & 325/30/19. And it seems the AR-1s are cheaper than the RRs. As for how quick they come up to temp, for me when it's cold out it takes me about 1/2-3/4 lap to get them up to temp on the Ring, a bit less in warmer temps.

I agree. They are so out of balance that I can't see them lasting very long without amendment. Competitors can't easily add 50-100+ rwhp or 200-300 lbs of ballast based on tire modifiers.

Sounds to me that all the other cars were tired of getting their butts kicked by the stock ZLEs.

There may be some truth to this. Fully built racecars on Hoosiers getting beat by cars with a full interior and working AC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Where exactly is the NASA discussion and data on the G3R being as fast or faster than R7?

I found the 3r's to be nearly identical to r7's at Auto club speedway. I heard the a7's are faster than 3rs tho.
