VYX - PAINTED ENGINE COVER (LPO-DEALER INSTALLED)

VYX - PAINTED ENGINE COVER (LPO-DEALER INSTALLED)

Does anyone no what this looks like and looking at my engine bay do I have it installed? I am not sure if the dealership installed it? It is listed on my build sheet.

Plus, the dealership installed my air intake. Are they not supposed to give me back the factory stock air intake?

Just wondering.

You have it. Your engine cover is painted.

That’s not a painted engine cover from what I can see in the photo. That’s a standard engine cover. And yes, I believe they are supposed to give you back the original air intake. Which makes me wonder...my car came with six piston Brembo front brakes and four piston red rear brakes. Both were dealer installed. I wonder if I should have been given the old original brakes. Also, I have dealer installed black bow ties. Should I have been given the old gold ones. Never I actually thought about that.

Anyone have a picture of the custom engine cover if that’s the standard one?

I am going to talk to the dealership first and see what they say about the stock intake. Then maybe a call to GM Customer care specialist if they say they will not give it to me. They probably restock it their parts department. I paid for an upgrade and the original I would think there mine unless small print somewhere when ordering. Had the car for a month now, so I think I can bring it up to them.

You are supposed to be given every single factory installed item that was replaced with LPO parts at the dealership---bowties, badges, intake, engine cover, wheels (!) etc. My dealer did provide all those OEM parts correctly.

So...I should have been given my original brake calipers? It’s been a while now since I purchased the car in March. But, it makes me a little upset if they did not provide me with the original calipers and front rotors. On my build sheet it does not sat LPO for the brakes. It just says “dealer installed”. Maybe that’s the difference? What does LPO stand for anyway?

I believe it stands for "Limited Promotional Option".

OEM Air intake

With GMs air intake when installed by the dealership there also supposed to download a tune that comes with the kit. With the tune they don't really tell you what the horsepower gains are, would really like to know that. According to GM without the tune you will actually lose horsepower with this air intake and if they installed it for you they should have perform this task since you already paid for it.

LPO stands for "limited production option", these items are dealer installed.

BlackbeastSS2, I printed up the 2019 order book for you, see attached. As far as I know, any item in there that says LPO in the Description column and is a replacement of an existing component means you are entitled to the original, factory installed counterpart. caSStro18, our 2018 order book is similar, the same principles apply there, too.

This excludes items that are not replacements per se, such as the struct tower brace as well as any RPO ("regular production option") alternative wheels, for example. At the same time, for example, if one orders the 56K LPO forged wheels for $1500, they receive two sets of wheels, both the default as well as the 56K set.

With all that said, I am neither a dealer nor a GM employee, this is what my research leads me to believe and not official information

Why would you want the original intake? Are you planning on taking off the Chevy Performance one and replacing it with the factory intake at some point in time? In my opinion the Chevy intake looks and performs much better than the factory intake! I can understand about the stock engine bay cover though!

I'd ask for the OEM parts back, my car came with the intake installed and the original airbox with air filter was in the trunk. GM has them install a spacer between the throttle body and intake that has a tapered arm that sits in the airflow, it's supposed to prevent whistling with the cone intake. I removed this when I put on the Solar TB and have never noticed any whistling.
