Dealership pulled the "okie-doke"

Was driving my 16 2SS when the driver side "half-shaft" (drive shaft) dropped straight down and landed on my muffler. I've NEVER modded my car in any way shape or form. Had Chevrolet road side assistance come pick it up (since it was still under power train warranty). For starters, they showed up with a regular tow truck and not a row back (which pissed me off). Then they take it to the nearest dealership where it sat for 2 days (without offering me any kind of loaner or rental). The tech calls me to have me come in. I drove my brothers vehicle to the shop and when I got there the tech tells me my warranty had been voided!! I was shocked for a lack of better words and even more shocked and even ready to get "Red" with em when he told me my car was showing that it had been Tuned 10 times!!! I was like WTF!!! I have absolutely NEVER had it tuned because I didn't want to void the factory warranty. Does anyone know of this happening to anyone before?? Ultimately, GM did NOTHING to try and figure out why or how it could be showing that it has been tuned. I've never taken it anywhere other than the dealerships to have anything done and that's been nothing more than a (Recall)Transmission Cooling line replacement and some rim issues and some interior cosmetic issues.

as if a tune would have anything to do with the half shaft failure, but powertrain is powertrain...as asked, car was used when you got it?

Like the previous posts mentioned, are you the original owner?

Have them pull all the service maintenance records, and go over them.

When they informed your car had been tuned ‘10 times’, did they show you?

You’ll need any and all documentation to back your claim.

Bachman Chevy? Are you talking about a Louisville dealership?

If you bought it used and the former owner tuned it, it will void the warranty. They probably drove it hard too.

As others have stated if you bought it used the previous owner most likely tuned the car. This would void the warranty because GM would consider that a tune would reduce torque management and put more stress on the drivetrain parts outside of the factory specifications.

This is one of the bad things that can happen if you buy used. Unless you can confirm the PCM hasn't been re programmed, you are at risk in buying a used Camaro/Corvette.

he joined in 2016 and has a 2016... feels like he's probably the original owner.

Gonna be hard to get answers on how they have made that determination and if accurate, if it's a counter that is being triggered properly.. You'd need another totally stock 2016 2ss that has been properly maintained via dealerships (since only dealerships can work on cars) ...and compare their counter. Either everyone is going to show a bunch of programs or you're going to be an exception and you have a real mystery going on.

The bolts holding on the half-shafts onto the diff side are known to come loose on the 2016 (and maybe 2017?) model year.

They even released a TSB and made a new set of bolts that are longer to prevent it from happening again.

Yeah, but on here for four years and only 3 posts? All 3 within the last week?

I know post count doesn't mean much, but dead silence until this week? That's extremely unusual.
