Low Oil Pressure Warning

Got low oil pressure warning yesterday. No pressure at all on the dash. Pulled over shut down car had it flatbed to dealership. They replaced oil pressure sensor and still same issue. They think it may be the oil pump, but wont know more until that's inspected. Was also having second oil consumption test done when this happened.

17' ZL1 16K miles. Any other had this problem?

Ugh, I hate it when someone posts this stuff...it makes me worry how much time I have left on my oem pump.

I believe the oil pump failure thread had the failures most common between June and late October of 2017 production dates.

Yes. please pester your dealer for a TSB issuance..for the small percentage of owners who are on forums, this event seems to be shocking high.

This just happened to me in the ZLE Saturday coming off track at IMS. Car ran flawlessly- I was backing into the garage after a 15-20 minute session.. low Oil Pressure light came on and said to shut off motor. I winched it on the trailer and dropped at the dealer last night. Dealer confirmed oil pump, and open TSB. Book pays 14 hours of labor (Woah). They said I should have it back Friday assuming pump arrives on time. Great service. Also, my 10/17 build date seems in line with above.

Sounds like exactly what happened to mine when it turned out to be an exploded oil pump. 2018 with oct 17 build failed around 18600. New crate motor. Sucky dealer experience

When in doubt, change the part out. Its only a matter of time. GM has a new oil pump part number 12686434.

My '17 is an April build, I have 11,000 miles on it now, nervous it'll go at any time.

Any indication what the date on this part being released is? I am wondering if it made it into my April 2019 ZLE build.

The issue seems to be contained between late 2017- early 2018 cars.

x2, want to start my engine mods, but this issue is sitting in the back of my mind. My luck, after mods, the pump will go and i will have to hear the wife telling me i should have left it alone!
