Mine work pretty quick. Within 5 minutes to max probably. The heated steering wheel heats a lot faster than the seats. Also I mostly feel the heat on my back if I'm wearing jeans. If I have shorts or scrubs, I feel the heat on my bottom and legs a lot more

I barely feel any heat on my back.

Love them for my back! I use mine even in warmer months when my back is acting up on my SRX, I will do the same on my Camaro.

I noticed they don't get as hot as my gen5 did. In the gen5 I found the higher of the two settings too hot for me, so I would set it to the lower one and within 5 minutes would turn it off (30-45 temp weather). In gen6, I have to set it to the highest setting and only really start to feeling it close to when I would be turning it off in my old gen5. Then I set it to the lowest setting for the rest of my commute. I personally like that is not as hot as the gen5, but the first time I used them I was wondering if they were working because it took so much longer to really feel the heat.

I am in Minnesota as well, although it is really cold out here the seats in the Gen 6 don't get as hot as the Gen 5. I took it to my dealer and they tested it and said they both work but they did have to replace the passenger side seat because it wouldn't recline. They had to order a whole new seat because no parts yet for this car.

I read this board for threads exactly like this one... I hardly ever have someone in the passenger seat. I could have gone for months without putting enough time on the passenger seat for it to fail if its going to.
