Talking How To: Remove Chrome Center Vent/Control Rings

I couldn't find anything on here on here on how to remove the chrome center vent rings so I figured I would just go at it and probably be the first. It was amazingly simple,I just took a flat head screwdriver placed it in between the ring and plastic behind it and pried up and did that around the ring they come off very easy. To put them back in just place them over where they go slightly spin and push in until they click into place. I painted them, they came out pretty cool.

I wouldn't recommend going at the plastic with a metal screwdriver. May want to use a trim removal tool, or throw some painters tape or a cloth over the tip of the screwdriver. This plastic can get mucked up real fast.

Otherwise, thanks for the how to!

Can you remove the vent once that is off? I'd love to replace one of mine but don't know how much work it would be to do so.

how do you remove the shifter trim? tried popping it off with a trim tool but it wouldn't budge so I gave up because I didn't want to brake anything

Yeah, I'll post video links just scroll through to find what you're looking for.

To get to the passenger side vent remove the radio first (smaller screen)

This is for larger screens removal and removal of the vent.

For driver side vent

The white bezel trim eventually peeled some, so I just removed all the plasti dip and went with carbon fiber overlay trim and paint the vent rings with black plasti dip. That has held up nicely now for months.
