Daytona 5/3/19

I'm going to Daytona for a track night on the 3rd if anyone else is interested.

I go to the FIRM in Starke Florida a few times a year and this Is my first time at Daytona. Ive got some experience at NJ Motorsports Park and the FIRM here in Fla but went in the novice class for this as these seem like more real speeds (In some youtube vids ive seen a C7 Z06 in the 180s at the start finish line) compared to any other place ive been.

Pretty much a bucket list to drive that track for me.

The event is through the SCCA and sponsored by Tire Rack. It was as cheap as the FIRM at 200 dollars so I couldn't pass it up.

Let me know if anyone else is going.

I’m attempting to make it. I track the firm pretty frequently for testing and seat time purposes

Just curious as to why you wouldn't want to go back?

Daytona a pretty kitschy souvenir type of track. Nice to do it once or twice but not incredibly fun after that. I’d assume that’s what these guys mean

Exactly what move over said. Track is pretty easy to drive, and overall “boring” once you have it checked off the bucket list. It’s also hard on the car It’s “fun” but it’s no Sebring..

Yep. The infield road course is honestly pretty terrible. Overall the bus stop is the most fun (and dangerous) part of the course. Well that and the outright speed.

It's cool to do once though. We did a 14 hour endurance race there and half way through all of us were over the course. Then a tropical storm blew through, that made it more exciting

I'm looking forward to the speed of it. Ive seen a video of a C7 Z06 hit in the 180s at the S/F line. I dont believe id go that fast even if I had the balls too and the car could.

Doesn't seem that technical at all and seems like a fun place to at least go faster than you can at any other places i've gone, so I'm looking forward to that.

Only way i'm justifying it is the 200 bucks to get through the gates with my car...It's always 400-500+ for a day. or 700 for a weekend. Too many pesos for this white boy.

Just FYI - there are actually TWO events being run at Daytona that day.

There is a 'daytime' SCCA event.

And then the TNIA 'evening' event.

Friday is the kick-off for the annual SCCA Showcase. We run HPDE/AutoX/RallyCross all weekend. The event it open to the public on Sat/Sun and ride-alongs (for free) are available with HPDE and AutoX.
