1LE on the street
Hey guys, how is the 1LE on the street? Weighing a few different options (996 or early 997, Boxster, Cayman, etc.) at the moment and I'm starting to wise up and realize I'd spend 99.9% of the time on the street, with a handful of track days throughout the year and possibly even some autox.
I know what the 1LE is capable of on the track (slotting in damn close to the GT4, which is crazy), but I'm looking for more input from you guys on how much fun it is on the street. |

I only have 570 miles on mine, but I can say without question the SS 1LE is a blast to drive on the street! Comfortable with a nice ride in tour mode and extremely impressive running curvy country roads in sport and track modes. I really like driving a manual, even city driving, so take that into consideration.

Mag ride is very high quality, while the suspension is firm, it's very good going over bumps, better than the BMW with Active Suspension (basically an older far slower system) I traded in. Anti-sways are aggressive as you'd expect.

It's very easy and comfortable to drive, but getting in and out of it is kind of a pain, especially if you can't open your door all the way.

If you want a real sports car and need duel purpose with street, there is not a better choice for the price. One year, 5500 miles, ran it at three tracks, including Daytona and Sebring... This car takes care of you and allows you to improve via PTM as your skills grow...amazing engineering by Chevrolet...

Daily drive the hell out of mine. Haven't tracked but want to in the spring. It's comfortable (I'm 6'2) and it's a blast to drive even under normal conditions. I put 12k on mine in the first year. Too fun not to drive!

I have daily driven mine for a year. I came out of a 991 911 C2. Before that 3 e46 M3s. It’s great as a daily and incredible on track.

It is a fantastic daily! I ran mine every day until the cold weather and a new job at a location that doubles as a construction site pushed me into a true daily, and put the 1LE in the garage for safe keeping. It is now a weekend garage queen awaiting the opening of autocross season. That said, I definitely miss the fun of not rowing gears Mon-Fri...
Don't be afraid to buy one if it is your only car. The only thing to be aware of, is that the tire life can be short, and they are not cheap to replace. Otherwise, it makes a great commuter car. -david |

I think it's amazing on the street. For reference I traded a 2017 Corvette Grand Sport because this car is so much better on the street and the performance is nearly the same for about 60% the cost. Love this car.

Can you explain the reasons why the Camaro is so much better on the street than the Grand Sport? Thanks.

Took mine out for a few hours today and put a few hundred miles on it. Rides great! I don't like where the volume/song track buttons are though, but given the space restrictions its ok.
For clarity I jumped in the Z28 to get her fluids going and holy crap!! Night/day difference (naturally)...but lack of noise insulation and the DSSVs really make the 1LE a hell of a cruiser. The LS7 sounds incredible though, my goodness. Anyhoo, back to the OP...the 1LE is a great driver and daily if you go that route. I do love the rev match...very nice, sounds good. Can't wait to get her to a track! James |

It is very quiet and comfortable on the highway considering the rubber. I did remove the intake sound tube though.

7600 miles on mine. Always in track mode for suspension. Firm but supple. Not objectionable at all.
