It's about as "track car" as you can get, out of the box. Hard to argue that

Bring your definition of a track car from the baby boomer period of youth out to the track and see how it does against the 1LE. Problem solved.

The ZL1 took the same suspension, more weight and had a great time at the Nurburgring.
But that is not really a track either I guess???

Oh...and if you remove "all those things and more" that are listed in the original post...I dare say you'll end up with this:

Wait a second... So if you hate baby boomers and millennials... what generation are you!? You must be on of those pesky Gen X's. The "middle" child... I can see why you're upset now. No one likes the middle child.

Keep in mind, the Camaro SS 1LE has AC, Power assist antilock brakes, traction control with an electronic differential for goodness sake, power steering (electric assist), dynamic stability control, Snow and Ice, Touring, Sport, Track settings (OL), Satellite radio (at least the 1LE deleted the rear speakers), blue tooth so you can text your friends, cameras to record your good / bad driving, power seats, cup holders, mirrors in the visors with lights, tire pressure and temperature sensors, air bags everywhere, etc, etc, etc.... Do you really need all this stuff for a "track car", of course not. Delete this and more, and you have a car where your driving skills behind the wheel makes the difference.

I really enjoy my 1LE, that is why I purchase it, but to call it a "track car" sorry, it is not, it is unnecessary heavy.

Millennials - You think the 1LE is a track car? Love to hear why.
Can you name a current street legal car from a major manufacturer that doesn't have at least one of the things you're mentioning as evidence against it?

Yeah... no

I always figured a track car was whatever car you tracked that didn't overheat or have its brakes fade all to hell. Apparently it has to be a gutted Miata with one seat and no paint.

GTLM cars have TC, driver adjustable throttle mapping, AC and built in drink dispensing systems. Are they not track cars?
GT3 cars have most of that plus ABS. Are they not track cars?

I sort of get what you're saying, but the 1LE is fairly on-par as far as factory "track ready" cars go.
