Battery Type in 2016 Camaro

Did a search, didn't find anything.....

......is the battery in our cars a traditional lead acid battery, or is it something better like AGM or gel?

Not sure, but considering all the emphasis on weight savings, I'd guess it's a AGM.

Is it strange that I immediately knew "cold cranking amps"? I'm no gear head.

Better question.....

Are these batteries going to cost $150+ like the last one I had to replace for a VW?

WTF happened and why do batteries cost so much now?

I had battery sticker shock also last year. Had to get a new battery for our 2008 Silverado 140.00. With having new vehicles have not bought a battery for over 10 years. As for as why you can thank the EPA, recycling, and most of the lead mines in the states have closed.

I don't know what type it is, but it looks like it might be a pain in the butt to replace. The access hole is so small you can bearly get your hands in there.

V6 cars use an AGM, group 48 battery, ACDelco 48PG. V8 cars use a flooded (lead/acid) 94 series battery , ACDelco 94RPG (same as V8 Silverado/Sierra).

Great info, wonder what's the thinking at GM in putting a better battery type in the V6?

Thanks! So SS models use a maintenance free sealed lead acid battery......

Does make me wonder why they're using an AGM battery in the V6 though....
