Just like everyone else is saying, check the connector to the sensor and wires. Some people don't care to put the heat boot that covers the connector and the wires back on like my picture. Or it slides down exposing the connector. I had a similar issue

Was OP able to fix this? I am having this issue right now and wondering if I just need to change out the sensor. Also how long would it take? Seems pretty simple but can't be sure till I get the car on the lift.

I’m having the same problem, gm engineer say I’m cruising in the wrong gear so they won’t allocate any money to fix the real issue
