I was on the same boat before I got my 2SS. I was looking at brand new 2015 ZL1s before the order banks for the 6th gen opened up. Test drove a couple of em, great performance and all but I couldn't get over the outdated interior (compared to 6th gen) and the sledgehammer feel of it. It was bulky for me, I prefer a much more nimble feel with my toy cars so I ordered the 2SS. I couldn't be happier. Saved a couple grand (46.5 vs 49) and absolutely love everything about the 6th gen.

ZL1, easy decision

1) far fewer issues than the new 6th gens
2) more horsepower
3) magnetic ride control - standard
4) roomier
5) about the same price of a loaded 2016 2SS
6) 130 more horsepower
7) more horsepower
8) who buys a camaro for interior amenities?
9) its a ZL1

For number 8, I actually love the interior of the car, everything but the stupid charge pad and pitiful center console. Carplay is great.

I'm still strongly considering it. The only thing that I'm not too fond of is the old my link system which I'm willing to replace with a double-din radio with apple play

I traded a 13 ZL1 for a 2SS, NPP, MRC because I wanted to drive it every day. I'm very happy with my decision.
Definitely will be a DD

I really do wish my 5th gen had apple car play/android auto capability. That was one of the things that excited me about the refresh.

The 6th gen interior is nice in my humble opinion. I'm just too damn big! 6 foot 5, 220, I feel like a piece of meat inside a sammwich, lol!

I have been test driving every model since 2010. Every year I almost went for it but something was off . I test drove the 2016 2ss and placed my order the same day . I have 2200 miles on it now and drive it daily . Sure they will add options in the future like they always do but this car is something else . They did an awesome job this year !!

Not as bad as you would think. Both the Maggi and the Edelbrock superchargers have bypasses that keep the peristaltic drag down to about a third of a horsepower and 0 boost until engine demand closes the bypass. (Not like the old style roots blowers, which were "on" all the time.)

I can still get 21-22 mpg on the highway at 70 mph.

That's not bad at all. Which one are you running?

I agree, I had the same thought, but the Gen 5 even a ZL1 is not as nice as the Gen 6.

I like the reasons stated above. I think really you can't go wrong with either, but I prefer the 5th gen overall. I was very impressed with the 8 speed auto of the 6th gen, but as 6 and 7 state, more horsepower. However, if it was me I'd go with a 2013 and forget the ugly taillights of the 14/15, but some people like them so it's really not too bad.

Like I posted before, the gen5 ZL1 does have more horsepower but yet stock only runs 11.9-12.20 in the 1/4m. There are gen6 A8 guys running that bone stock. Then something about far fewer issues was mentioned; only issues I'm aware of were rattling in the NPP optioned exhaust, rearend gear noise, and mosaic black paint coverage which have all been fixed by the factory at this time. And with the amount of problems the LSA has had, I don't think there's much room to talk there. I've got nothing against the gen5 ZL1 besides the fact that in my opinion all the gen5's interior is ugly as sin. As for the comment "who buys a Camaro for the interior amenities", well the fact that you're inside the car, sitting in the interior every time you drive the car, I'd say it's kind of important. It's all an opinion thing, and what you like most. I hated the '10-13 tail lights and front grill, the '14-15's didn't look bad but I just couldn't get over the interior and the fact that the Mustang 5.0 Coyote was flat out a faster car. Once the gen6 came out, to me they fixed the ugly front end, kept the back end similar to the '14-15's which I liked, the interior is a vast improvement, they made the car actually handle well, and they put a more powerful engine in it and used the 3.73's with the 6M, making it a huge step above both the gen5 SS and the Mustang GT performance wise. For me it was a no brainier.

..."the Mustang 5.0 coyote was flat out a faster car"...I'm not sure what you mean by flat out...I've not seen that in the real world or in reviews. But im sure there are some people that believe this. I havent had a 5.0 give me any trouble personally in stock form. Overall the gen6 camaros improved in almost every way over gen5...either is a great option. But if u want newer tech and newer body with excellent performance go gen6...If u like gen 5 look and care to mod...a gen5 zl1 can get to 700hp very easily.
