If we use google maps as a guide, the trip heads from Dallas northeast through Texarkana.
We have plenty of time to figure out the route

What do you think about driving to Memphis the first day? It is a little over 700 miles and leaves 470 miles for day 2?

If we take the I-35 route, we could stop in a few places.
Little Rock: Day 1 Distance: 590.4 mi. Day 2 Distance: 581.6 mi. Memphis: Day 1 Distance: 718.4 mi. Day 2 Distance: 453.6 mi. If we take the I-44 route here's where we could stop: (this route has toll roads) Muskogee, OK: Day 1 Distance: 530.9 mi. Day 2 Distance: 619.1 mi. Springfield, MO: Day 1 Distance: 666.4 mi. Day 2 Distance: 483.6 mi. I vote for the I-35 route, since there's no toll roads, and it doesn't touch Oklahoma
