Mine was built May 1, 2009, and it arrived at the dealership June 11 and I took delivery June 12.

VIN 7035 and VINs in the upper 10000s were on sale at the same dealership when my build arrived.

What were some of the problems with the 5th gen builds?
How come so long before you took delivery?
QC inspection issues?

We identified one problem for sure and I suspect there was at least one more. The problem we identified for sure was the battery cable was too short causing chafing so all initial battery cables had to be replaced, a somewhat time consuming job. We identified that as there was a stop sale for a few already dealer delivered builds in order to replace the cables.

Apparently chafing of wires transporting electricity can be problematical, particularly when driving down the road.

I may be off a day or 2, but my vin is 3359 and was made April 12, 2009 and I got the car on June 2 same year, 44 days till it got here, there was no info on why the long hold.

But i have the same filings now, looks like 2-4 more weeks on hold IMO.

Laborsmith,
Because it took so long to get your car, were you able to use this information as a negotiating tactic to get a better deal on your new car?
Meaning, did the dealership take a few bucks off for you to keep you happy as a customer? Incentive, rebates, etc..??

No. The deal was MSRP minus $200 or Supplier if I could use my GM Card points. I could not use my GM Card points w/ Supplier so went with MSRP minus $200.

At that point in time some dealers were getting added dealer markup. I don't know if any dealer around here was but based on posts to Camaro5 it was apparent that was happening in some areas of the country.

Asimpleguy went from 4300 to 6000 which is a good sign for other 4300s and he lives in TX so it had to be rail.

One car cut on fire for this, but here is the funny part, when this happened, GM called me up to tell me not to drive the car, and they will send a flat bed to get the car, asked if i was still at the address, i said yes i was, then told them if they know where the car was, as i had not received the car still, that was 10 days before the car was here.

Car gets to me, i take it for that recall and guess what, GM did the fix in QC so to say one hand know what the other hand does is a joke, IMO they have know way to know.

I am in tx went straight to 4300 and never hit 4200. Still at 4300 and coming up to 3 weeks. According to my dealer when they called business center that it was on rail on its way here as of last friday.

So who knows what's going on with the cars and statuses as a simple went from 4300 to 6000.

He might have bought the car before it arrived at the dealer.
That would make the code go to 6000.

Got mine from Courtesy Chevrolet actually. Website shows "In Transit". Dealer confirmed today that it is in 4300, and he said he'll try and find out more about whether it is actually being QC'd. Donno how much information he'll actually be able to get though!

At least we don't have crazy winter storms to worry about here... can drive all season if we want!

One thing I know for sure.... I'll never, ever go through this process again.

I've never been an early adopter type of person, and never pre-ordered anything in my life before.
I saw the first car being delivered as special event, and saw cars being loaded up on the car hauler, so I thought mine would come in a couple of weeks, MAX.
Stupid me,,, I sold my daily driver in advance, thinking I'll be driving my Corvette for a few days.

My Camaro is stuck at 3800 for a month, and weather forecast shows 'snow' for this weekend. I'm not planning to get a winter wheels for corvette. Tires on my vette is very wide, sticky summer tires, which will be horrible in snow.

I know I'll be happy and excited again, when I get Camaro, but right now, I'm really regretting my decision. (pre-ordering Camaro, selling my Caddy.....)

Never again.......
