Thanks again LeonardS, good info !!

Not surprised they would want to build more Cadillacs. Looks to me based on their pricing that the margin on those is much higher than on a Camaro, more profitable for GM. I looked over the Caddy offerings and every option , optional colors etc. seemed double or more the cost vs Camaro.

By example the Radiant Red Tintcoat on the Caddy is a $1225 option in the U.S. while on the Camaro it is $495 add'l.

So if you only have a limited supply of chips I can see where they would like to put them.

Yeah, although back in 2017 the number of Camaros rolling off the line dwarfed Cadillacs, I saw some factory videos and counted the cars

Since I am still waiting for my order to be picked up by GM and Sharkskin Gray paint is on the constraint list, will that delay Chevy from picking up my build altogether? Or do they at least pick it up and then I am at the mercy of the constraint list later. I know either way I would be waiting but knowing it's picked up is better than nothing at all.

Curious if I should change colors to my alternate (Summit White) color so I can get this thing moving along. Why would a paint color be a constraint anyway? No pigment to make it or what? Very frustrating.

It won’t get picked up while your options are on constraint, if they are building 0 of that option/options. Sometimes things are on constraint, but they are still building limited quantities of the option, so some orders will get picked up.

Your order post likely hasn't gotten picked up because your dealer does not have an allocation yet for that model. When your dealer gets an allocation for your model, anything that is on constraint will block your order from moving forward.

Thanks for the feedback, fellas. My dealer was very transparent in the beginning, telling me that they would need to sell the 1SS they had on the lot before another allocation would be available for my build. That particular 1SS sold on Nov 29th, which prompted my salesman to contact me, and to let me know. He said hopefully I will hear something this month about my build getting picked up. My understanding as I know it is every dealer is different regarding the timing of receiving their allocations. Just because that 1SS I was waiting on sold, it could still be weeks before that next allocations they could use for my build comes, correct?

Now as far as the constraints let me make sure I am understanding, if you don't mind. Hypothetically my dealership receives that allocation for another 1SS build tomorrow and my build is next up, however I have an option (Sharkskin Gray) that is on the constraint list. Does my build 1) Not get picked up at all staying at 1100 status or 2) Get picked up allowing it to go to 2000 status but then just sit due to the paint constraint? Just trying to understand this so I can decide if it's best to switch my build to Summit White and hope that pushes me through. I'm fine with either color.

I wonder how many Sharkskin cars were made so far if it’s already on constraint. Mine was produced last week.

If they get an allocation and your color is a constraint color, it will stay at 1100. If the national quantity available for your color is greater than 0, then it could possibly get picked up.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think it matters if they have one in stock or not.

I believe your right, sounds like a good way to push customers into the Camaro on the lot vs waiting for an ordered car. Salesmen !!

My understanding that allocations are based on previous sales volumes at the dealership, one car sitting on the lot has little to do with the next allocation.

I'm sure this has has happened to someone but I have a great repore with my salesperson. He worked with me on 6 vehicles in the past 12 years, prior to working with me on my Camaro build. Cool guy, never pressured me or pushed me into anything. Before he even had a chance, I made him aware very early on before submitting my build that I had zero interest in the 1SS on the lot whatsoever mainly because I wanted it to be ready for spring when the NE Ohio weather improved. He understood I was willing to wait to a certain degree. I'm emailed him about the constraints so I am hoping to hear from him tomorrow..

Just because one has a rapport with someone doesn’t mean that particular someone knows what they’re talking about. His info or behavior is only as proper as his boss allows it to be. It’s not true that allocations are awarded only after in stock vehicles are sold.

I'm almost 46 years old brother. I am not naive, but I definitely get what you are saying. My Salesmen has never done anything for me not to trust him. He was transparent in telling me that he is new to the whole build process through GM and is learning with me. He just hasn't had to deal with it much coming from years at Hyundai. He actually works at the Ford dealership now, but because he is part of a large auto group in our area, he can work on the Chevy deal with me. Allot of his information has come directly from the GM, as he has copied several messages of their conversations back and forth to me. You might be on to something here but the bone I have to pick might be with the GM at this dealership and not my Salesman. I will email him what you guys are seeing and see what he says. I just want to tread carefully. If I tick the GM off because now I know he might be trying to pull a quick one, he might get all butthurt and you know how that could turn out. Let me email my salesguy and put him on the spot and see what he says.
