Camaros at Vintage Races at Road America, Wisconsin July 18, 2009

Here are some pics of the Vintage Races up at Road America from Saturday, July 18, 2009. There are several pics of spectators cars as well as race cars. I also included some of the other great cars from this huge vintage race gathering. I drove my Yellow 1971 Z28 RS up for the day. The Rally Yellow Nickey car was on the track during the lunch hour break. For a fee, anyone can drive their car on the track during the lunch hour. It's a pretty cool deal. I have driven the '71 and my 1997 30th Anniversary Z28, as well as a 1986 RX-7 and a 1975 MGB. Good times!

The GT40 was the featured race car this year. The famous Lightweight 1967/68 Penske Trans Am Mark Donohue Camaro was there as well as the 1970 AAR Swede Savage Trans Am 'Cuda.

Notice the tinted windows on the 2010 Rally Yellow SS. This car came all the way up from Texas!

Enjoy the pics!

Fantastic set of photos, thanks for posting these! Those 2 shots of the Ferrari 365 GTB Daytona show that even after 40 years it's still one of the most beautiful car bodies ever designed and built.

This event happens every year at the same time. It is the largest vintage motorsports gathering in the country and Road America is one of the greatest road courses in the country! It's a four mile road course that winds through the kettle moraine area of Wisconsin, about an hour north of Milwaukee in Elkhart Lake. Great food, more than 50 years of fantabulous racing, and beautiful scenery. Check it out some time. I've been going to this facility 4 or 5 times a year for over twenty years. Just go to http://www.roadamerica.com/ for more details. They have another vintage weekend in September but its not as large as this one.
