Engine cranking time
Is it normal for these LT1s to take a few seconds to start when cranking?
The engine in my 2013 SS started immediately when you turned the key. Thanks for your help! Jim

Yes, the extra cranking is to get the direct injection mechanical high pressure fuel pump spun up to pressure before the engine fires off.

Many people report a drop in charge if their cars sit for a week or more which could result in a little "dragging" noted at start up and could represent a low battery situation. Just don't want you to get stranded Jim. Pull your multi-meter out of the tool box and put a new battery in it and see if your batt at rest is at least 12.5 volts. If its not, charge her up. Most trickle chargers will take them up to 12.9 volts before they're considered fully charged and you may find she'll fire more quickly than before. |
