Question Rear mount turbo

So when doing rear mount twin turbos is it best to do 3in or 2.5in pipe back to the turbos?
Also what is a good oil return pump?

I cant see any reason to do rear mounts, but the smaller 2.5 would make more sense

And Turbowerx Exa pump

There is a lot of lag with rear mounts. Depending on your end goal it may or may not be a factor.

I'm trying to help weight transfer better. Car is way to front heavy. Currently sitting at 3640lbs but 2080 front 1560 rear. Moving the twins in the back and going air to water will help reduce front end weight.

I guess that is one good reason.

probably not enough to make a realistic difference though.

i'd swap for a re sleeved aluminum block before i designed a whole rear mount kit, considering i'd already have a twin kit like you. That will take a good amount off the nose, like a solid 110 lb's.

I always like the idea of rear mounts. so much more room and easier to work on. Loosing weight of the front is a bonus. Getting all that oil back to the engine seems like it may be a bitch though.

I've done a couple... On an iron 6.0L used 2.25", spooled twin 57mm teriyaki tornados pretty quick and had good power up top! 2.5" on cold side.
I'm running a mix of 2" and 2.25" with a single 88mm in my car. Kit I made is similar to the turbonetics kit so there's a lot of exhaust pipe and it spools/works just fine.
I'm really considering going rear mount in a few weeks. One person on the internet cries lag and now everyone with no rear mount experience swears ALL rear mount setups have horrible lag lol

Ive done it.
I have a single 3" back to front but if i did it over again id choose 2 2.5".
Youre going to run into issues getting the pipe from behind to infront of the front wheels with 3". I ended up "oval" izing my 3 inch pipe for ground clearance.

Do not buy the ebay scavange pump and dont wast $$$ on the exapump. Get the shurflo 8000 643 210 pump.. it works, the price is right and its not super loud..

Only other thing ill tell you is make sure you add check valves on the oil line feeding the turbo....

You can check out my build on youtube... man stuff channel.

That Shurflo pump is not intended for hot engine oil, its max rated temperature is 180degF

A diaphragm pump is not a good choice for this application.

It may have...but it is still a bad choice, and going against the manufacturers instructions
