Trunk issues

For some reason my trunk will not open. With the key fob or the button on the driver door it will not open. It makes the popping noise like it is disengaging but I cant get in.

I did climb in the trunk to realize that the emergency glow handle is stuck under the liner and not visible. Do I need to pull the liner while inside the trunk to pull this handle? Or is this not the issue and there is another way to get in the trunk. Its a 2018 2SS 1LE

try pushing down on the trunk while trying to pop it to relax the pressure on the mechanism

I have the exact same issue at times. As crosive suggested push down on the trunk, fixes it for me.

I also had the issue on my 17SS and I put a little pressure (to the left I think) on the hook portion on the lid and fixed the issue. I did not have to loosen the bolts in the hook.

When you get it open, take a look around the lip where the lid seats for any small twig or stone or other debris that might keep the lid up a little bit when closed. This can put pressure on the latch and prevent it form opening. For example, I had a flat electrical cord (no heavier than on an ordinary household lamp) running to the trickle charger that I hooked to my battery there in the trunk for the winter. I figured the fat rubber gasket would simply collapse under/around the cord and the latches would work normally. NOPE! Had to fold the back seats down and climb in to pull the handle. Not easy when you're over 6'3"!

Mine did the same... had to push down on the lid while pushing the button.

Under just the right heat/humid condition, even pushing on the lid didn't work.

After closer inspection, my trunk lid was misaligned (front corners of trunk lid were making "slight" contact when closing). Took it into dealer for warranty trunk lid adjustment. Haven't had a single problem with the latch sticking since (over 2 years now).

Have you tried using the key FOB release and pushing up on the trunk lid from inside the trunk?

My 2017 ZL1 is that way too! I have checked the latch and found nothing that should be causing it to not open. Most of the time I try to open it under the lip of the bumper and sometimes use the release button on the door panel. My 2016 SS never had this problem but maybe for a few times using all 3 ways to open the trunk lid.

I had / have the same trouble. A buddy and I took the trunk lid carpet off. Removed the latch mechanism cover and found that the pull cable at the latch has what looks like a nut on it as a spacer. Very odd. But when the cable going in to the latch, the latch plastic housing looks broken and plastic missing.

Oh. Btw we used the mechanical release key way in front of the backseat.

Probably gonna order a new latch

Is the release key in the back seat only for convertibles?

Had the same problem which pushing down and retrying to open the trunk worked, but a trip to the dealer to adjust the trunk latch fixed it
