Sub enclosures for 6th gen

Any other enclosures comparable to the jl stealth enclosures for our 6th gens? Something side mounted to take up less trunk space. Just can’t pull myself to spend $900 for the jl stealth. I know its a great product but im only interested in information on OTHER lower priced side trunk sub enclosures.

no, there is nothing. Unfortunately anything that you do will need to be custom at this point , if you aren't interested in the stealth box

I had a custom enclosure built that is similar in design to the one pictured above from that place that was $400. It is covered in black vinyl and it is the exact optimal size for the subs i put in it. If you care about sound quality at all having a box built by a professional that is designed to fit your specific woofers is 100% worth it.

For you guys with the subt*ump box how did you secure it to your trunk so it doesn't move around with aggressive driving. Also how is the 6th gen with hard bass. Rattles and squeaks - nada or mucho?

I saw that one. I just felt it still took up some of the trunk space. My other option is the spare tire well (where we dont have a spare tire lol) i believe its enough space for a shallow sub.

Even with my puny Rockford powered sub, I get tons of rattle from the rear cabin.
I’d say with that kind of setup, sound-proofing and multiple rattle-fixes would be necessary.

That’s pretty much what I did. It’s in another thread here.

Saw your post before posting.Nice! I’ve considered the powered sub. Checked out the one you have and a couple others. Just waa trying to find something with a bit more wattage. Cerwin vega has a 12” with 250rms. I may go with that one and do as you have.

The enclosure is built so that it fits snuggly into place. It just doesn't move by design. There isn't anything special you have to do. If you want extra peace of mind though, you could just use some velcro strips and that will guarantee it not moving.

As for rattles and squeaks, I don't notice any but, I'm not maxing out on bass either. If you're going to be pushing the envelope on bass then it's just a given that you should put some sound deadener in the trunk and around your speakers.
