BMR LOWERING SPRING INSTALL ISSUE

Just finished installing the rear lowering springs which are 1.25 drop. When the car is sitting on the ground everything is seated perfectly. When I lift the car and weight is off the suspension components the springs come unsteated from the upper perch mount. The shock/spring assembly has zero pressure compressing the spring. What is going on here? Thanks.

Did you click the bushings after installation, with weight on the suspension?

Not sure I know what you are referring to about to click the bushings.

Yes I did time all the bushings. Thats why I can not figure out what the issue would be.

Had a similar issue. You may have forgotten to install one of the retainers (like #14), which will unseat the insulator (#13) and allow the strut rod to drop when lifting the car. Or the strut rod nut is real loose, but this is unlikely to unseat the spring. Only way to check is to pull strut and mount plate and see, unless you have any access hole drilled in the trunk. Or look if you have any parts like these retainers that were not installed (ref pic of anodized retainer on top of the rear shock strut).

1. Remove the strut and double check the assembly order. Are all the parts installed? In the correct order? The top nut is tight?
2. Off the car, is the spring loose in the seats?

Everything is installed correctly I've checked twice. The spring is snug off the car but not compressed at all like the front shocks.

Back side is seated, (like the end of the coil) front side as shown is comming on seated when car is in the air. For all I know this could be normal...

Can you turn the coil easily when the car is in the air or is it tight, hard to turn?

I can turn it. It is pretty snug but wouldnt call it tight, how I'm assuming it should be.

The coils will sag as they age. All coils do. The concern is that coil become short enough to fall out of the upper seat when lifted. Were I you, I would notify BMR of the fit and then check the rear coils in a month to see if they are as snug as they are today. I would check again in three months. If the coils loosen, ask for a replacement set.

But that is just me.

My BMR rears are like that when I lift the rear off the ground -- each and every time I raise the rear, I have to make sure they are aligned before I lower.

IF they are sagging I thought the BMR springs were lifetime -- maybe they can chime in -- but I believe that is normal when there is no load on the rear...
