How much oil is to much oil in catch can
How much oil is to much oil in catch can?
I just emptied catch can after approx 1000 miles after recent mods and there is around 10 oz give or take in can?

Firstly, if it is all oil, Houston: we have a problem. The purpose of a catch can is to catch blowby, moisture, unburnt fuel, etc. My first question is have you tracked it? Or, drove it like you stole it every weekend?
Of course, it also matters what kind of cc, how is it plumbed, what is it catching? I've read as low as 1/2 ounce and as much as 10 ounces per 1k. But the latter is invariably tracked (or driven as if so) per 1k. Bottom line is, you generally want all that stuff out of your engine. |

If there is an abundance of fuel it's in the tune. There should also be a good deal of moisture in there. Can you supply a pic. Otherwise you can have it tested. Part of it may be that it is a MM rather than an EE. But if drive it like you stole it regularly, that probably accounts for most of it. In other words, drive it like Grandma for 1k, and there is probably an ounce in there. If there is still 10 ounces, there seems to be a malfunction.
If it is virtually all oil, then every 3,200 miles you'd be adding a quart of oil. That is something you can simply check in another 2.2k w/o a test. That amount of bb is to be expected only if you are regularly driving hard, or tracking. |

So I just put about 75 miles on it since I drained it last night, drove somewhat normal and I just drained about another 8 ounces or so, wtf?

That is waaay too much blow by. I would perform a leak down down test promptly. Assuming you did not overfill your oil...I would have the shop do the test at no charge...if this excessive blow by happened immediately after your mods. How many miles?

Sorry if I missed it, how long has the catch can been on? If a recent addition, you 100% sure it's installed correctly?

update, purchased used and installed before it went for mods.
After sending pics of the internals to Mighty mouse I found out that it is a 4th gen race can, and that is the reason for all the oil, some jerkoff avertised it as gen5 wild and had the gen 5 bracket with 4th gen race can internals

I have a small oil catch can- 300 ml.
After 3000 miles, less than half was filled. Although a cheap product, probably from China, it works great. A few days ago I changed the ported TB and after 3 years of driving I have the intake manifold clean and without any sign of oil. |
