It is normal...?

1978 Camaro SBC

Engine running normally, oil pressure OK, but after starting the oil will start to ripple from the rocker arm of the first exhaust valve cylinder.
The rest is nothing.

I found out by accident

I know the stock rockers had a pin hole for oiling the push rod end. I'd put that cylinder on TDC and pull the rocker to see whats going on. Makes me think the push rods not getting the oil.

I think they should all be oiling . If new lifters did you soak them in oil before install ?

Yeah, maybe your right.
I'm not familiar with those style rockers, I've always used the stock style on my SB Chevies. Used to have an extra valve cover with the top cut away to do adjustment/visuals on the valve train. The stock rockers really slung the oil.

There are new lifters, new pushrods, and everything has been thoroughly extracted in oil. The first start, the motor went as the sewing machine, lifters pressurized, then everything stopped and everything was normal as usual.

And the engine has driven several hundred, maybe a thousand kilometers.

But it goes completely normally ...

Looks like an oil flow issue likely from the lifter or pushrod. Like suggested. TDC and then investigate.

The paradox is that both the lifter and the pushrod are new.
But O.K. Tomorrow I will try to replace the lifter and check the pushrod.

Anyway, I didn't see as much oil in any video as the incriminated rocker arm.

What happens if you SLIGHTLY increase the RPMs? Things can get messy so be prepared. I've got some clip devices that go over the stock rocker arms I acquired many years ago to minimize oil splatter when doing adjustments. As mentioned, the cut-up valve cover idea works well also.

Definitely an interesting issue. I feel like the answer is in the lifter, but who knows. I've seen engines do some strange things in my years.

When I increase the RPM, also the oil pressure go up and the oil starts to crackle up to the exhaust pipes.

Cold start.
All rockers appear to be lubricated normally.
Only the first just flows. I'll change the lifter and see.

Problem solved
The error was in the flowing lifter.
I put a new one and it works as it should.

No clickink, and the oil pressure rose a bit.

Thanks to everyone for the help
