But a lot of people want new. It's a bummer that they have to have someone else purchase it before them for them to buy one.

How do you afford a Camaro in the UK? Insurance, registration based on engine size, and gas at like $12 a gallon?

We don't afford it, you really have to want one, insurance is ultra cheap compared to everyday cars as you can get them on a mileage agreed "classic" insurance policy, road tax is cheap [unless its a euro spec] the main pain is fuel as you said.
They cost a lot more than you would ever dream of paying for them over there but are mostly good value, you have to remember they need shipping over here, paying of custom and excise duty, pass a conformity test, have rear lights converted, then need registering with the DVLA then off you go. |

THE biggest pain is probably the sourcing of spares cheaply. Chevrolet has no official dealer network over here so you need to be a bit cute if going to the US on vacation by taking an empty suitcase for "essentials". The import duty, tax and fright charges are crippling. An LED light harness for a door bin on an SS is 20 bucks to you fellas; if you order it online thru GM it'll be 200 bucks by the time its on your doorstep. Its a real struggle but we get by, there are other ways of landing stuff...
