Any members have luck getting the A8 shudder fixed at a dealership in/around Tampa?
My A8 '16 2SS has been experiencing the dreaded transmission shudder for a couple thousand miles now, and it's only getting worse.
This is extremely disappointing because this is the first car I've ever bought and I worked my ass off for it. Now I can't even truly enjoy driving it. I'm aware of the TSB thanks to an earlier thread on here. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...63890-9999.pdf My issue is finding a dealership that is not only willing to recognize the issue, but also have the fluid in stock. Ferman Chevrolet recently had my car for TWO WEEKS claiming they had the fluid available when they did not. They did not provide a loaner vehicle either, and completely forgot to change my oil/rotate my tires. Have an appointment for Jim Browne Chevrolet Friday morning. Crossing my fingers. Let me know if anyone has had luck in the Tampa area, willing to do anything to get it fixed. |

Unfortunately I can't help you man, but I feel for you and hope you'll find a decent dealership. You are 100% entitled to this job for free, it isn't some kind of favor that may or may not be extended, the dealer will get reimbursed for the job.
Two things you might want to consider, first, since you drove so much with the shudder present, your torque converter may already be toast, so you need a proper service department that is willing to replace that as well. Second, you may want to get the transmission tuned once it's fixed (flush and maybe new torque converter). I know it technically means giving up the warranty, but a good tune can completely cure all of its quirks. Before you'd ask, mine is tuned with no issues whatsoever, shifts are crisp when needed and soft when just cruising, no shudder, no jerky shifts, nothing. Just a thought.

Here is a post from someone who has just recently had the same fix applied, including torque converter replacement: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...3#post10700543. Might give you some ammunition in case the dealership needs some convincing.

When I read posts like this, it makes me feel extremely lucky that I have a very good dealership that I bought the car from. The very first time I took it in for the latest service bulliten, they not only took it right then and there, but they also replaced the torque converter as well. So there are excellent dealerships out there if you look around

Well I would recommend Ferman!
When I read posts like this regarding someone's issues with a dealership that I have bought 9 cars from over 11 years and never had an issue it shows that opinions vary from person to person. Too bad you had a negative experience there. Welcome to the Forum! |

I said opinions vary from person to person. Not his opinion. It is a fact that he states he was done wrong. I'm gonna speculate that his opinion of Ferman is not favorable. Don't turn my words around. |

I took mine to Ferman on North Dale Mabry and they did the service for me in one day. They have really stepped up the service dept since they bought the place from Maus.
