Intercooler pump question

So I'm thinking about having an external ice tank for cooling the intercooler down at the drag strip. I was reading that some race teams will do this with their cars between runs. My idea is to have an ice chest with a pump that I can quick couple into the car and cool it down. My question is can I push coolant through the factory pump or will I need to have a bypass in the car? I obviously dont want to dead head into the pump.

I think this would be a very effective and cheap way to cool the car at the track plus I don't have to do any major modifications to the car.

Thanks

Yes you want factory pump inline with your tank and secondary pump. I would go interchiller instead of ice.

So I can pump through the factory pump with it off?

Not interested in an interchiller I don't want to cut up.a bunch of stuff on the car.
