Best Supercharger Kit for Reiable Build

I've been searching the forums and different sites for a few weeks and I'm having trouble deciding which kit to go with, and what mods I need to get as a supporting mods so I don't blow the thing up when I through boost at it. What kits and supporting mods would you recommend for a pretty much bone stock 2012 ss.

see signature. If you want to stay milder around 525-550whp just get the whole whipple kit and use their stuff but I recommend a good tune from a reputable tuner.
Centrifugal is easier on parts according to popular opinion but if your foot is capable of easing into the power its basically the same. Turbo isn't my thing and they seem to need to be rebuilt more often.

A friend of mine has the same car as you with a Whipple and I have the Heartbeat. We both have the same internals and make the same HP. You can't go wrong either way. Get one of them and enjoy

What are your goals for the car and what is your budget? Be honest with yourself upfront and spend the money once. Can you do your own work or will you have to factor in paying to have the work done?

Unless you have great self discipline, once you get used to 550rwhp you will want to turn it up and that takes more supporting mods/$'s.

if you are sure you don't want to go past 600-650 an ADM LSA kit is very nice and near factory stock. you can go higher with an LSA but then that starts requiring more supporting parts.

If you think you won't be able to stop modding and pretty soon want the standard 1k hp. The price goes way up and the reliability is not the same as a 550hp engine.

If you think that 700-750 rwhp (which is a lot for the street) is your limit you can start with something more and grow into it. Like the ESS, ECS, Procharger and Vortech - nice and price is reasonable but grow fairly easy with you. As for the PD blowers, mentioned above the Whipple and Heartbeat are great too. If I was going with a PD blower at this point I would wait a bit and see how the kits that are now emerging using 2650 TVS rotor set evolve. Whipple may step up their 2.9 to better compete for instance. Turbo is also great and easier on the engine but more complex - if you are comfortable wrenching on your own car and plan out your build, turbo can pretty thrilling.

Since it is much hotter in AZ, you may want to invest in some better cooling even at the 550hp level. Read Hamdo's thread - you can't go wrong with LSA and anything he has done.

If all my rambling seems daunting. You can have a really fun street car and be up near 500rwhp with gears 3.91/4.10, camshaft, CAI and a full exhaust with LT's

I have a procharger D1x
I love it so far. No complaints.
It is my daily driver only complaint is obviously gas.
But I am ok with that. I did do a bit of an overkill with the fuel system but I did because of peace of mind and knowing I can upgrade the power and my fuel will be able to handle it.

The supercharger itself doesn't matter. The installation, tuning and supporting mods are what is going to determine if the car is reliable or not.
We usually have a couple used supercharger kits sitting around at a nice discount.

I've had my Whipple since 2017 and I like it. I had the bypass diaphragm fail and Whipple sent me a new one under warranty, so they support their product well if that counts for anything.

I went from a bone stock 2012 SS to adding the Whipple and that changed the car a lot, it'll definitely put a grin on your face. The problem is, once you start, it's hard to stop!

Truth.... That is why you need to be honest with yourself up front and spend the money once. Easier said than done...

I catch myself looking at after market forged short blocks and turbo systems. But then I jump in my SS and start grinning - damn the YSI is fun...

I installed an Edelbrock G-Force S/C on my SS in September of 2010. It's worked fine ever since. See all mods below, getting 546/rwhp, which is enough for me for the street.

I'm running a Maggie Heartbeat at about 7lb boost with some supporting mods. Been very reliable - not so much as one error code, ever. Kit looks like it's been factory-fitted. Car is very docile in heavy traffic and not bad on the gas (if that matters) But when I kick her in the guts it's a different car' very rapid. Making about 600 to the tyres and a pleasure to drive the thing.
