Those systems use K band, unless you live in a one horse town tell your detector to ignore K band. I have the Escort 9500 CI, K band was driving me crazy, Even automatic doors from department stores set it off. I turned off my K, of course you leave on the Ka band...

I use a passport 9500ix have been for years. I tested if my system will get false alarms or not with 5 different vehicles (friends' cars driving next to mine and me in their blind spot) and not had a single false alarm. |

Detectors are pretty useless anymore with modern radar and lasers being used. Ride with a traffic officer sometime and find out. Don't waste your money.

No false on Escort 9500ix
Have put 800+ miles on with an Escort Passport 9500ix around town and on the highway with absolutely no K-band false by the detector other than those I get from other vehicles.
As for those that say a detector is a waste of time, because laser, well truth is most departments don't have laser. Because budget. A detector is only a tool. It won't save you from anything if you are not a heads-up driver anyhow.

Nonsense, I get false alerts all the time on my V1 with those newer cars w/lane assist or whatever annoying radar feature they use.
Of course I use my V1 on the "A" setting, which is the most sensitive & diesnt filter out much... Perhaps it's time to switch to one of the filtering modes!

Just sent it in for update last year as I recall. Will have to check the sn on their site to ensure I am fully updated...
V1 should allow firmware only updates by end users via USB or their BT dongle!

I get very few false alarms on my Escort Passport Max 2. It has software that weeds out a lot of the crap other detectors go off for.
It's also saved me at least 3 times since I've owned it...I've learned to never question it in regards to KA Radar which is the predominantly used system in my area. There are a few municipalities that have laser but it isn't widespread. |

This thread reminds me I need to update my valentine 1! It's still running software from 2002.

Even the cops using switching Radar my V1 picks it up from miles away. Laser otoh very limited range and your done. To combat that I use Waze. Radar Detector + Waze is a pretty good setup |
