Help with big decision

Back ground, car is a 2018 ZL1 with A10. Currently has Kooks 2” headers coated with no cats, rotofab intake dry filter, 9.17 lower pulley, TM TB, tuned by Matt Sorian. It made 612/648 to the wheel.

As we all know it is never enough!

So the wife and I have have an agreed amount that we can use towards a much bigger build. The options I have right now due to budget are as follows:

1. Cam, Mag 2650, 103 TB, ECM and Trans tune.

Or

2. Cam, Mag 2300, 103 TB, meth, ECM and Trans tune.

On either of these, would a low side fuel system be needed? If so I will forgo the meth on the 2300 set up.

Any in put, thoughts, suggestions are much appreciated.

Trying to get everything done by the end of January.

Thanks in advance

Are you going for 750-800 RWHP in the new setup? I think the 2300 will get you there, but I would opt for the newer 2650 in case down the road you want to go for more. You will have everything but the fuel upgrades in place already. Since you are doing the cam, you might still want to do the low side(maybe voltage booster). Im sure others that have been down this road will chime in.

Sounds like fuel will be the limiter on HP and budget here either way.

I say go with #1 and yes you'll want low-side fueling if you're running 93. Not sure what the upper limit will be on pulse width before you need +30% injectors... maybe 750-800whp?

I just got my car back from Matt,

If your set on the (maggi) products... 2650 over the 2300, what if you did the XDI fuel system and a low side? for going meth and being able to run full e85 or 93 anytime you want or even being able to run a mixture of the 2 fuels.

you could still do a cam later on and maybe for go some of the trans tuning and a stall at this point? should make 800 easy it will be plenty of power in fact I'm think of dialing mine back to 800.00 especially during the winter.

just and idea.. unless your dead set on a cam.

This would be less complicated if your wife likes to drive it like mine, she could operate it like its never been modded(not worrying if the meth tank and other small pains are good before she takes it or even you for that matter)

Matt knows UWE/XDI so he's a dealer.. hell you could do the cam, xdi and 2650! probably would never need to upgrade ever again and be sitting where I'm at 1000 plus to the wheels. I went the cheaper route with port injection and the eforce..

Don't let anyone talk you away from an eforce j rods or jamie saw my car at Matt's once its ported it will do every bit as good as the maggi and then some.. they you can run port or the XDI your choice.

Not sure if you went to the Houston Autorama but summit was there and they passed out catalogs with 10% off

the eforce is 4800.00 for grins I stuck it in the cart and got 480.00 off..

4300 and change for the eforce...
Kong porting 1300

total of $5600.00 for the eforce and porting not to mention the cool kong plates that go on the top of the blower, If you can find a maggi 2650 and the 103 adapter for 5600.00 jump on it!

anyhow some other options for ya!

Big upgrades equate to big heat! Have to take that into consideration and build in some cooling upgrades.

Go choice 1. 2650 does everything the 2300 does and then some. You can get the same HP with the 2650 on less pulley overdrive than with the 2300 which means less supercharger RPM and less heat. Though I don't think you'll have heat issues either way.

You will need some fueling mods. Talk with Matt about exactly what. If you really want to do it right, XDI and a low side is the way to go. I would highly advise doing a Cam in addition to the mods to help the engine breath better. Honestly the heads on the LT4 don't flow as well as most would like so they could use a port job too, but obviously this all adds money.

Good question as I've been think about this decision myself and from the research I've done I think #1 is the way to go.
I still need to speak with a tuner but I think my goals can be reached with that setup. I'm looking for 700-750rwhp and would be happy wherever it falls in that range. I understand fuel will be the limiting factor and if necessary will add a voltage booster for the low side providing that'll be sufficient. I'm not looking to go meth or spend crazy money on the fuel sys.

2650 all the way, don't think it matters which one but it is a hell of an upgrade.

So it seems like the 2650 is the way to go. Going with option 1, I will not be able to get a 103TB as that with the attachment would put me at another $1,000. Would going with a 95mm TB be a bad thing?

Power goal is about 750whp on 93 reliable (as can be).

Magnuson 2650 with cam and low side, flex fuel tune. No need for ported head or even ported blower. With this you can run a conservative tune and still make all the power you'll ever need. The downside is the risk of engine failure with no warranty, and I've seen a few posts lately about bent rods, snapped cranks and of course the dreaded oil pump failure.

This is why, if I were to do this I would have Katech build it. Their prices are fair and they include a 3 year/36k mile warranty.

Very true.

Goal is 750-800whp. Budget is 12-14k total with ECU and Trans tune. Anything close to high 9s would be a dream. Car must maintain drivability. If the wife wants to drive it, she can without complications.
