Unfortunately my LT1 was delivered on Dec 31, 2020 and I drove on the all seasons for 3 days before swapping an 18" winter setup. I tried the stock a/s in the snow on new years day and I barely made it around the sub going 15mph. Had to start in 2nd gear most of the time.
What's the widest tires we can put on the stock rims? I assume 255 might be max width on the 20x8.5 |

I called Tire Rack and Clancy claimed that the 8.5" wide tire could handle up to 295/ or 305/. I cannot imagine that actually working... |

I’ve seen that chart get thrown around a number of forums over the years, and every time I see it I feel like the tires it recommends are small for the wider wheels.

Here is my 315/30/20 on a 11" wheel, nobody can tell me this is stretched beyond the max, which the table above indicates. It's also true that the actual width of tires from different manufacturers varies even at the same nominal width, maybe there is some hefty safety margin included in this table.

1.88 60ft on my 245’s and best of 7.88 on a decent but not great track. Can go consistent 1.9’s 60ft.

I agree. There was a point that I trusted the Tire Rack (back when it was owned by enthusiasts) but I've had a few issues with them over the past ~ 5 years and Clancy's claim just adds to it. |
