AFR for DI?

Greetings all.

Trying to do some learning.

Is 14.7 still the AFR target for DI engines?

~11.5 for WOT?

How about when using E60? or E85?

Are we all leaving AFR's behind in favor of Lambda?

If so, what EQ are we looking for in Lambda under WOT? With E85?

Thanks for any wisdom you can offer.

1 lambda is always stoich no matter what fuel you’re using. PE is .85 to .9 on a NA DI motor.

Lambda is easier to use as 1 is stoichiometric for whatever fuel source you are using. I think you can run a little bit richer PE with e85 but Im not positive. I wish I had e85 closer then 250 miles then I'd do more research. But I run PE around .87 to .88 on my car.

As mention above, speaking in terms of Lambda for E85, Stoich is 1.0. WOT PE should be around .87 for a NA application. You would still target the same fueling even on E60. The Flex tune will adjust the stoich ratio and Stoich will remain 1.0 Lambda on your Wideband.

If you want to speak in terms of AFR then Stoich is around 14.1 for E10 93 and WOT PE I believe GM normally target's 12.6 which is a tad rich.

Ethanol allows the ability to run a little leaner due to being superior at cooling the combustion process and pulling heat out of the cylinder.

You never target 11.5 on a DI engine even with boost. DI stuff does not like running that rich.

I've saw a lot of shops target 12.2 for boosted DI setups

Agree with Choda...

Far as Forced Induction goes, I target .82 lambda on Ethanol. On pump 93 I would probably target a little richer. .80 lambda or 11.9-12.0 afr.

Thanks everyone for the replies. The numbers I was seeing seemed really lean to me, but I guess that is part of the DI world.

I now know I'm where I should be with my 12.8 AFR in 3rd WOT.

Bumping this. so lambda on the gauge on E should be .87 at WOT?

I run mine about 12.8 to 13.0 on E85 and 14.5 is about right at idle.
