While I’m personally not a fan at all, I would be interested in a more OEM-type look that more closely resembled the fender vent on the C7 or even the GT350.

For me it feels like all the factory body lines flow nicely together. The sharp edges of the fender vents disrupt the look or flow of the car. Stock fenders looked nicer IMO.

There is no doubt that the factory look is nice however I was just going for a more aggressive look. Additionally its nice not having the same old run of the mill cam that i see daily everywhere. I have the originals ans can always change back if I get tired of it. The fender swap is actually pretty quick. Its a matter of "mine" and I'm good with it.

Please keep me posted if you do. One thing to consider by modding the stock tank will also allow the current fill port location to stay in place. it's basically the same poly plastic fill tube and it slip fits into the top side of the tank. this would keep the fill plumbing stock.

"Can we get a dead-on side shot of the fender?"

Well, I modified the washer fluid tank and heat welded the bottom to it.
I first started by determining what type of plastic these tanks are made from. They are Polyethylene (not sure what grade) but basically the same plastic as a milk jug but obviously much thicker. I'm pretty familiar with solvent based welding other polycarbonate and acrylic type plastics and I had some weld-on solvent so I tried it first. This will not break down the polyethylene so that was not an option. Tap Plastics sells a epoxy that is compatible and used to join polyethylene but I'm not waiting on that. So on to heat welding. -Started by measuring and cutting the tank so it will clear the top of the vent. -Prepped/cleaned up the bottom edge on my bench sander. -Used a razor blade to clean up the edge -Cut a section out of what was remaining to use for the bottom. There was only one area that was barely enough to make a one piece bottom. -This piece had some transitions in it so I heated the whole piece and used a large piece of MDF to flatten it out. - Rough trimmed this piece so I had a 1/4" of material extending around the bottom of the new tank. -With the tank resting on the new bottom piece I used my flat chisel soldering iron and start heating the joint. Starting with heating and pushing some of the extended material near the joint. - Then heating both the tank and bottom and using the iron to feather out the melted plastic. Continued this process all the way around. This took some time. prob spent two hours on this. -Went back over the joint several times looking for imperfections. found some...fixed 'em. Found another that didn't like being fixed... fixed it several times! -All done Yee F'ng Haw! time for a water test. -Filled tank let it sit. It holds! great! Now how well? Shake test...Good. -Done! Ok so here's the deal. This is not really a pretty process and I haven't heat welded this type of plastic before. The overall appearance is nothing to get excited about but structurally it seems to be holding together well. I may do some additional mesh and PE epoxy around the joint to make dam sure this will not leak at some point. Now I will need to plumb the tank and reinstall... Can we get this moved to the exterior modifications area? I just feel like it might be easier to find there. Recently, there seems to be some new members coming aboard and they seem to post threads in the General topics forum, instead of the specific forum for their topic. I get the feeling that they feel things are disorganized, and this area gets a lot of traffic, so they just post here...

Yes there is satin black vent mesh inside the openings.
