Post Side Skirts Rocker Panels

WE just did a road trip from Il. to Wy. which is no problem for our 2022 RS vert. the problem is in Iowa our side skirt rocker panel left us at only 70 MPH. It sounds like hitting the rumble strips. So, we didn't know it till a Gas stop. Well, we keep going on to Nebraska the speed is up to 80 MPH and pass a semi of comes the driver side panel. The problem is they get destroyed and with the truck full no place to put them. What I kind of like to know has this happen to other people with the Side skirts??? This is only a 6 cyl. what about the big motor cars?? Monday it's down to Chevy to see about our warrant for parts leaving a car.. Yes it was fun only had to run 500 Miles a day then sight see.

How did you secure them to the car? Since they're coming loose was it just double-sided tape?

Did you not pop rivets in them?

Yup, that's the pertinent question. Rivets or at least self-tapping screws are must, tens of them, otherwise forces will eventually tear off the skirt (if accidentally stepping on them doesn't first).

These are right from the Factory order. They were installed right the Chevy plant. It's all part of the RS package. I saw the 2-sided tape after they departed, I know you people have more miles than me. I've got all of 3,000 Mile on it that's why we did a road trip. I just figure the SS/RS have to go faster than 80 MPH and don't lose the rocker panels. The next set will be screwed on in the front, so they won't work lose. Thanks, for all the help.

That sucks, they should have to replace them with such a new car. I can't believe that the factory side skirts aren't attached firmly with any screws or rivets.

Extremely unlikely. GM even specified additional rivets for their front splitter that already uses 10 or 12 screws driven into speed nuts that will never loosen on their own, PLUS dual sided sticky tape.

I suspect this may have been caused by installer error, since this is an LPO (dealer installed) option.

Agreed.. OP take your car back to the dealer and make them replace them and put them on correctly. Your car is still under warranty.

Actually, you order them from the factory and they throw them in the trunk for the dealer to install when the car hits the lot.

I checked the box for them when I ordered it and had mine worked on 4 times (including the original install prior to taking delivery), as well as visiting 2 dealerships, and tons of calls to GM customer service to get them installed correctly.

They were literally ill fitting/loose/falling off the car when I took delivery.

I guess some corporate big wig finally got tired of hearing from me and dropped the hammer on the installing dealer.
The service director that oversees the garage and body shop personally called me and was my service advisor.

Very nice guy (car guy too) and he went above and beyond to get it all straightened out.

Interesting. I ordered the Ground Effects Kit in Black for SS Models with Quad Exhaust tips. Part No. 84116167. Includes front splitter, side rocker panel moldings and rear diffuser. For use with SS models with quad exhaust tips for my 2022. Cost $2,300 LPO item. Car is in and being PDI/LOP. Along with the New Car acceptance Checklist. This item has been added for checking. I'll be on all fours with the flash light, looking up in these areas for rivets at delivery. I learn something new a lot of times on the Camaro6, Thank you.

FWIW, mine had the rivets, they pulled away from the body at the top from about the front door opening to the rear quarter panel.

IMO, the dealer installed them incorrectly and the outer "shell" didn't line up with the inner rocker mounted base.

Side skirts will have Pop rivets holding the rocker brackets, double sided tape, phillips head screws front and back at the wheel well areas.. No chance to come off if installed properly.. Sounds like a warranty issue to me..
