Correct. Settle, get a good payout and wait it out a bit as I posted. Unless you need another car then make sure you get book value so you can find another used one.


But with the market value of used cars you "might" want to just go ahead and order a brand new 2022 if it cost almost as much as the used.

Answered my own question… you can if you have the original parts to put back. I plan on doing all kinds of upgrades and have already started. So I’m keeping all old parts just in case.

This is why i don't even enjoy driving the ZLE or Viper or any of my other toys anymore. Living in a big city i see dumb crap happen on the road all the time. I'd rather just leave the toys parked in the garage and taken out to get cleaned every once in a while, maybe occasion spin around the block. Its a such a waste, but it just seems the roads are too crazy. I drive my POS beater more than anything, its been like a tank that's taken all kinds of battle damage, but since I don't really care about it it doesn't bother me.

Have you been to a body shop lately for repairs, because it ain't cheap anymore. My wife's explorer got a little love tap in a parking lot, some minor scratches and dents. It was like 1400 in repairs. Someone tapped the bumper of my mazda, left some deep scratches and it was almost 1200 in repairs. That was just taking the bumper off fixing the scratches and paint.

The OP's car needs new fenders, door, hood, probably wheels, tires, maybe brakes, airbags, radiator, possibly some damage to unibody. If I had to guess I would say that's probably 25 to 30K in repairs.

No question that is totaled IMO. Damage is quite severe and airbags deployed to boot.

When I got hit from behind in my last car, I was absolutely sure it was fixable... Once they noted the frame was bent, that was it. Totaled.

I'm sure that car has some type of frame damage. Glad you are OK, cars can be replaced, people can't.

its gone.a buddys 2014 1SS got hit in the front and wasnt near that bad,but it was totalled.on the plus side he got a 2015 2SS commemorative edition as his next car.

glad you're OK, the car can be replaced you cannot. The bigger problem you are going to have as you explained it is you are responsible for the accident. I had the same issue in the driver who caused the accident drove away and we even had witnesses and a plate number and tracked them down but I was responsible for the car I sideswiped (minimal damage) and the lady that hit my rear end was responsible for my car. She hit me so hard it broke the C clamp holding the axle in place. The car responsible was even doing an illegal U turn and the police would still not do anything. Hope you have a friendly insurance company cause I got a feeling you're not going to like the offer they make you.

Its a Hyundai Tucson. I don't even bother listing in my signature because its only purpose to it take a beating on the highway. I do drive the XJ, but its currently in my garage getting the engine overhauled and waiting for a lift kit so its been out of commission for a few months
