The answer to this puzzle is simple though (and is the same answer to the GT500 problem) just change the pulley and add a CAI and tune and the ZL1 will dominate every track...it simply loses on straight line acceleration to lighter more powerful pony cars! |

At what point does an old car become vintage sheetmetal on a new car?
I know about VINs etc, I was in the restoration hobby for 20 years. I like the Red Devil a lot. I'd own it. But to me, this is a new car with 1969 sheetmetal on it. That's not a bad thing, it's just a thing I'm not surprised the modded car won; the factory car wasn't built to push the envelope. It's built to be a great package that passes required testing for government ratings and to fulfill a business model.

I love Red Devil! The ZL1 is awesome but I'd take Red Devil all day long!

The RedDevil is probably the best sounding Camaro I've ever heard and certainly the best done. I wouldn't expect less from a GM engineer and the application of modern technology to a 43 year old car. The performance difference between these two cars isnt as great given the 600 lb weight and 240 lb torque advantage of the 69. Kind of like bringing a knife to a gun fight.
