I know that everyone has an opinion regarding the multiple intakes. I has a CAI on my 2014. My 2020 came with a factory GM but really similar looking CAI - I was going to do this anyway so it was good from the factory.

As far as performance - not sure if there is any - BUT I do like the way this looks over the stock intake - so - the choice is yours...but I do go for the nicer look...if only I could find an orange filter I would be set in regards to the color combo... lol

OP was asking about stock airbox, and those results are what I posted.

As far as doing the cut airbox, we did have a member track test a cut airbox with green filter vs a Rotofab CAI on an SS quite a while ago, and the Rotofab won on that day.

you will find different answers for both sides on any mod worth <10 hp. after a couple years of ownership a washable filter would pay for itself if nothing else.

my anecdotal evidence: when my car was stock (untouched everything, except green filter) i never got beat by another stock camaro. i raced several. car? driver? green filter added 75 hp? your guess is as good as mine.

Have to agree with, only lightens your wallet if you paid the money expecting a hp gain. Only real benefit is the clean/re-oil instead of throw away aspect.
^^^ This...! Don't bother.

But what about the filtering efficiency? In reality you could probably drive a modern vehicle for probably most of life with no filter at all and be fine. However, if you were driving it in the desert sandstorm for all its life it probably would not last too long. The OEM durability and filtering efficiency standards are insane, you can take the OEM paper filter apart and roll out the pleats and it would stretch 100s of feet.

I like Green filters or K/N purely for the efficiency of not replacing them every year. Other than that, I don't know how much utility they actually provide. If you do make the move, I would do it when your current air filter is up for replacement.

This might require much more frequent oil changes, but I get your point.

If you open up a filter, you lower restriction. This will only have an impact at high volume/velocity airflow. There is a cost in that you will lose filtering efficiency at low rpm. And if you clean it often (as in a washable filter) you are also removing the "dirt plug" which actually increases filtration efficiency.

I'm not into the performance filters/CAI stuff. But this appeals to the same crowd that changes oil every 3000 miles, so they're probably OK.

maybe gain some horsepower now with the cotton filters, scratch up your cylinder wall and lose some horsepower later, pick your poison, or stick with OEM

Too little oil and you will suck grit into your engine.

Too much oil and you will eff up your MAF sensor.

Either way, they offer zero performance improvement in my experience.

AEM Filter, is a fantastic air filter and it never needs to be oil where you don't have to worry about ruining your mass air flow sensor.

Not an air filter but you could add a velossa air scoop to your setup.
