I tried not to chime in on this LOL. But now I have Train Spotting in my head, "You're going the wrong way". If you go taller on your tire choice if you trap anything over 116 you are only going backwards. In a car any faster than that that isn't running an 29+" tire you will have to execute a 4th shift . That 4th shift at a minimum takes .3 to execute. Shifting the 4/5 shift at 6,500 drops you down to 5,000 on the shift recovery. I was basically trapping 125 the other day and only going through the traps at 5,200-5,300 in 5th. It is also in 5th for 1.7 seconds and only gains 200-300rpm in that time. I am not sure how the gear splits in a M6 pan out but if you are running an A8 and don't go shorter on the tire side you are going the wrong way my friends.

I agree with Pray and I stated this earlier, don't go shorter. My car MPH's better then most and I run 28" tall tire. I was holding mine in 4th and mph was higher and you'll never be able to do that with a shorter tire. I don't think I can hold it with the supercharger. I may try it this weekend but I think I'll run out of rpm.

Let me clarify what I am saying. If you run enough mph to have to shift to 5th gear in the 1/4 for any reason then you need to go DOWN on tire size. Especially if you are running a radial. Since we have no rear gear selection for these cars besides a 3.73 then you need to run what ever tire size will get you as close to 6,500 in 5th at the stripe to maximize your 1/4 times. Deeper or shorter is quicker when you have to execute 4 shifts. The stock tire height is labeled at 27.5" which we have beaten to death in the past. The tire is 26.83" on the car. So any tire over that height when sitting on the car is only hurting you when you eclipse that 114-120mph range depending on tire height you chose. I think 120 is it at 6,500 in 4th with a 30" radial. I can't see a 30" radial helping you 60fts at all. I went from 27psi to 18psi in my tires and dropped .03 off of my 60ft. Slicks are a little different since you can shrink them on the line with air pressure and get some growth back up top.

PRAY's advice is sound and I'll just add this, I run a 28.7 tire and trapped 120.94 with it falling on its face. If you can raise your rev limit to 6700 then you can possibly (emphasis on possibly) go 124 holding it in 4th gear, with your cam it shouldn't have a problem pulling til then.

Like was said earlier, you can't just throw parts at a car and expect to see great results...you need to make sure they all work with one another. The objective with tire size is to work around your ET/MPH goal and purchase accordingly.....with that Beast screaming at the line

Good luck homie

So using my old 5th Gen DR's that are 305/45-18 (28.8") on the 6th Gen A10 that are 26.7" would not be a good idea?

I guess go with the 305/35 which matches up better with the stock front 285/30-20 at 26.7"
Assuming I leave them on and just swap rears.

I also went the inexpensive route on wheels and used a C6 zo6 style wheel in a 18x10.5. I test fit the wheels they fit perfectly and look good for $130 each.

I had the same dilemma and ended up using 305-40-18 in the MT ET SS tire. I wanted the R's but the 305-40-18 is closer to stock size.

If you want to lower the effective gearing slightly, go with the 305/35, if you want a slightly taller effective gear go with the 305/45. Or chose to keep stock gearing and go with the 305/40.

You should be able to come out harder with the 305/35 if you have enough traction.

MLEE according to my calculations and a 6500 rpm limit a 26.7 stock tire on the A10 (2.85 final) will have a speed of 101 in 4th and 119 in 5th. A 28.8 tire changes the speed in gears to 109 in 4th and 129 in 5th.
