Hope you find a fix OP.
LOL, right? I am trying to help this guy with a problem. I'm pretty sure both the 6 and 8 have engines, transmissions, heat sheilds, exhaust, exhaust clamps, belts, etc

It was the usual suspect who fired first... noting a V8 owner wouldn't recognize any sounds from a V6. Like you said they are both cars with pretty much the same parts.

I have listened to it but it is hard to hear clearly over the the rest of the noise the car makes. I can't say I care at all for the exhaust sound of it at least going by the video.

But that said it sounds to me almost like a pulley for an accessory or perhaps the bearing for one of those. Like say on the alternator or AC compressor. It might be better if the OP recorded the sound with the hood open into the engine so we could tell if it was anything under the hood. If it isn't then it must be further back which would point to the exhaust as some have noted.

Perhaps, but can you explain the recent exhaust work amplifying that?
I'll try to get a video posted soon with the hood open,
Much appreciation

Nope I can't its just that its hard to hear over the sound of the exhaust I find. That's why I'd like to hear the car with the hood open if its not loud under there its something else.

A couple years ago I was in a friends v6 suv that had the same sound. It was a heat shield.

But V8s have more cylinders than v6s.

Hahaha nice one,
Well given the location I believe you are most likely correct.
The engine runs perfectly fine with no sounds thank goodness,
Usually audible at traffic lights when warmed up right, in drive and fully stopped but as soon as I let off the brake, with or without gas it's gone.
Does this also match your criteria?
Appreciate this buddy, thanks for taking the time

Had the same noise myself on my 2012 - dealer traced it to the heatshield on the cat - replaced the entire assembly - poof! sound gone. They used cheap rivets

I would guess heat shield on cats or exhaust manifolds.

Based on all of your descriptions on when the sound is present and when it goes away, my guess is that others are right on it being a heat shield making contact with exhaust components.

It is definitely not a motor mount... that would make a clunking sound and you would feel it when you accelerate. A simple way to check the motor mounts is to put the car in drive with the hood open and have someone watch you engine. With your foot on the brake, rev the engine to 1500-2000 rpms. The engine will lift about 2-3 inches up on the drivers side due to the rotation of the engine.

Also, like qcman said, pop the hood to listen as well. You might find a pulley going bad or pinpoint the culprit visually if it happens to be under the hood.

Let us know when you find it. And if you don't, just turn up the radio a little louder so it doesnt bother you.
