Guess what. Not a single word of negativity about the purchase ever again. And she always loved going cruising in it.
Sometimes she would do full washes inside and out on it without me asking.
And she couldn’t drive it as she didn’t know how to drive manual.
I tried to get her to try driving it and she never ever wanted to.
But she certainly loved that car after that first conversation.
This is great! Lol!

I don’t want the 1LE though because I won’t track it. It’s hard to get over the 2018’s though because I love the style and the 2019 is so god awful. If I can’t snag a ZL1 who knows if they’ll screw that up too. I can’t now with the lease, it will make the payments an obscene amount of money unless there is a 2018 somewhere in America. The dealership didn’t even look, he just mentioned 2019’s. Talking to my wife she agrees but she’s alluding she’s expecting me to do this in a few years. I think she was under the impression there’s no way I could make it work right now anyways. I would hate to wait and the new ones look like the 2019 SS’s and by than I’m stuck trying to buy a car that’s 2-3 years old that someone drove the hell out of and turned in.
If you never had an FI car and only V6 Camaros, the progression I opted for may be worth considering. You snag a 2018 2SS at a great price now, get used to the power, then add FI relatively cheaply for much more power, lots of joy every step of the way, still for less than a ZL1. Avenues are still wide open afterwards for tires, wheels, headers, cam, exhaust, 1LE upgrades, aero parts, engine rebuild, you name it.

In the end this will have cost more than a ZL1 that you leave stock forever, but you'll get the fun in appreciable bursts and you (perhaps even your wife) get to be part of the build story as well.

There was an outline of her ass on the car from her cumming. I’m serious. And it wasn’t a simple wipe off. I didn’t notice it till the next day. Actually it was my coworker who noticed it. So it dried on the hood and I had to scrub it off when I washed the car the next time. It was surprisingly hard.

In the beginning I wanted the ZL1 back in I don’t know 2012-2013ish because it was just bad ass, so bad ass. I made the promise I’d buy myself one in 2018 but things happened along the way and I was never able to save. I also made the mistake of getting the 2017 on a lease instead of just buying my wife a car. The biggest things to me all along has been exhaust sound, cams, headers etc there are no options for the V6, it’s a dead platform. I don’t need extreme performance as I doubt I’ll ever drive a 1/4 mile. I want the feel and the sound, I started up a 2016 when they came back for the 6th gen. It was a 2SS with NPP, I cried a little inside, tears of joy, the sound was so unbelievable. The interiors astounded me compared to my 13’ plus all the lighting and accents were so great. So I jumped into that 2017 to get the gadgets I wanted on my 2013, all but the V8. I’m worried I’d make a mistake if I don’t get the ZL1 and I’m in this boat again wishing I got the better one. But at the same time, the 2SS is a ridiculous car at a ridiculous bargain ($500 a month? Seriously?) Plus the added insurance cost and everything with the ZL1.

I guess I’m stuck between what do I need vs what do I want and if what I want isn’t totally unreasonable. I’m talking myself in and out of this, no wonder my wife wants to murder me sometimes. I think I’m just being impatient thinking I could do this deal immediately and my wife would hate me less if I said it’s $500 a month and not $900 a month.

I’m only considering because the killer deal. If I don’t do this right now it’s ZL1 because if I’m spending 50K, I’m getting the F’ing ZL1 for the extra 10-15K.

I may have to try this!

update: Not going SS, wife told me, "Buy the car you want, don't settle because you can have it now."

So we're on hold for now but this is very much happening, timeline TBD.

Who doesn't love a good romp, but don't think the thin metal on our ZL1's today could handle a copy paste of Scotty's convincing...even with a wife who tips the bathroom scale in double digits.

Trying to hit 10K and lower the payments. Use a bit for protection of the car too. I just found out ceramic coating is a farce and doesn’t protect from rocks. I’m curious what everyone else is using, I’d like to do it first thing after I get the car. Colorado is notorious for rocks.

Get the ZL1 just like the wife told you! You won’t regret it. I finally got one that was a used 2017 with very low miles and I don’t regret buying it. I’m starting to get used to driving a Camaro with 200 more hp than my 2016 2SS had and enjoying it every time I get it out. Have to keep a watch out for idiot drivers though.

I’m going to! Just dealing with trying to get out of this lease so my best option is to wait. Last thing I want to do is make a 65K car a 75K car because a lease. It’s going to take me a long time to get used to it. I have a 335HP V6 right now lol, it’s twice the car almost. But you better believe I’m going to tear some stuff up. I’m keeping my eyes open to all options right now! If I see a used and I can snag it and not roll too much over I’m jumping. Otherwise I’ll get a brand new one for 2020. I’m scared Chevy is going to ruin it though, the new SS is awful..

Check for new 2018 zl1s, I’ve been looking and seeing several for 10-15k off sticker.
