Newb...kinda

Hello everyone. I'm sort of a newb here. I've had an account since 2009 and lurked, but backed away from the car scene for several years due to having kids and military deployments. I am back in it now!

I've been in the 4th gen V6 scene for a long time and finally stepped up and got a 2014 ZL1 that is bone stock (for now). I'd like to toss in a Roto Fab CAI, mid length headers and a cutout. In the long run I want to do a pulley and a tune.

If you guys have any suggestions for things to be cautious of or that I need to look out for on the car please let me know (recalls, quick failing parts, weak components etc.).

New Car:

Old Car: 1997 RS, T70 turbo 15 PSI and 2 small shots of nitrous.

I've had zero problems with mine. But I would recommend keeping the rear diff fluid maintenance up-to-date and cleaned. Of course the upper pulley rattle can be an issue, rattle. Some people have complained about the mag ride shocks leaking.

But nothing to worry about, in my opinion they seem to be very very well-built.

Nice ride by the way, both of them

Welcome back to the Camaro 5 forums. Overall the ZL1 is a pretty solid vehicle to own. The only minor issues I have heard of was supercharger belt breaking, struts and shocks leaking, noisy differential, leaking rear differential pinion seal, and power steering failure is the only issues that I have seen. Also I high recommend keeping up on all your general maintenance like changing your differential fluid early, oil changes, doing all major services on time etc. If you are serious about installing a pulley and doing a tune. After you install the pulley definitely install a aftermarket heat exchanger and bigger radiator. Get a dyno tune from a reputable tuner after you install the pulley. Congratulations on the ZL1.

Chris, CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thanks, guys. I've been crushing the search function lately and have already learned a lot about the car. I appreciate heads-up on mods and maintenance you guys mentioned.

If anyone has a set of ZL1 floor mats that they want to part with please post up because my car didn't come with any
