Information

Never been to a track with my 16 2ss but would like to. Bought car with BMR springs in it which are horrible. Bottoms out the mag ride over the smallest bumps. I put the 1le tire and rim set up on it. Wondering what springs are recommended and any other small upgrades for a beginner.

Stock springs work best until you go with a coilover setup. Most lowering spring a for this platform are guessing.

Id say stock springs or GM lowering springs. As for upgrades, DOT4 fluid, track alignment, seat time. Then upgrade other parts of the car as needed.

How about H and R springs specifically meant for the SS1LE

https://wildhammermotorsports.com/ca...pring-kit-h-r/

or YYZ progressive rate springs which are meant for the track

Have to thank you for that second link in particular. I'm aware of Hyperco's position (strongly favoring progressive over linear rate springs at least in applications that see some street usage). Those YYZ traces - at least the general shapes - are about what I expected to see. For the more serious track people, there are some downstream conclusions that neither Hyperco nor Wild Hammer seem interested in making.

Can you clarify what do you mean by "there are some downstream conclusions that neither Hyperco nor Wild Hammer seem interested in making."?

+1 especially given you have MRC. Lowering springs are for cars and coffee by and large and you wont see any used by those that post fastest laps here.
Also, dont forget to change fluids, including running proper motor oil. Have fun!

Did you get any before and after track time deltas with this setup? If so i'd love to hear the difference.

Krops gets his mods for free as a test mule
(I know a guy who is sponsored by Toyo and runs 888s.
If you ask him, they are the best tires money can buy)

Also, by Krops own admission he never ran his car stock. So there is no delta to compare even based on "ass feel".

There was tons of discussion on those springs a while back in a long thread...Frankly i dont expect any new revelations to come out beyond what has been stated already.
