Pulsating brake pedal

This only happens at certain times and speeds. Sometimes it doesn’t happen at all. It’s always at the beginning of applying the brakes and when they are applied hard it’s like I can “push thru“ the vibration part and the stops end up being smooth. I did try bedding the pads. If I go up to 80 and hit the brakes really hard it’s a smooth stop with no pulsing.
Tire pressures are fine and no detectable wheel vibrations when not braking.
Live with it? Take it in for a warranty look? Car has 2,000 miles on it and this started about 400 miles ago.

Maybe warped rotor or a deposit on the rotor? I'd take it in for warranty.

Absolutely take it in for warranty. You paid way too much for that car to just "deal with it"

The stock rotors are junk, I replaced mine at 13k. But yours is a little early.

Why would you say that ? I have 11,5 K on mine and there perfect !
I'm in East Texas ! I've seen some with 2-5K tracked pretty hard and I'm sure some could be turned. But junk ! If our car's were a ford I might believe that(Just a joke !). To low mileage to be anything serious, unless tracked real hard which I doubt would !

If you're not sure about it the right thing to do is to take to the dealer

Car hasn’t been tracked nor run very hard. The most use the brakes have seen is when I tried to bed the pads after the pulsing started.

You could try loosening and re-torqueing the lug nuts and visually inspecting the rotors for any pad deposits that could be manually sanded off with garnet paper if found.

Appointment is Monday afternoon. It didnt do it until about 1600 miles. It shouldnt do it at 2000 miles. Normally have excellent service with this dealer so I'll report back after they are finished.

Dealer called, said they need to "scrub" the rotors. I asked what that meant and he said they had to be turned and that it would take longer than expected and car should be ready tomorrow.
At least they acknowledged there was something wrong.

If you get enough heat in the rotors, don't cool down properly, and apply brakes to park or idle the car, it can leave hotspots on the rotor. If hot enough, the pad heat treats and hardens those spots in the metal because of the excessive heat. The hot spots will be colored and will result in pulsating brakes which some refer to as warped. Normally, it takes track work to get brakes hot enough, but this is heavy car and possible with aggressive street work, especially if not allowing to cool after bedding pads. On track, this can happen due to a black flag or no cool down laps, pulling into pits and keeping the brake depressed when you park or idle. Have had this happen on both vettes and the camaro usually do to momentary lapse of routine. I now exit the track on black flags and drive around the paddock not getting back on grid. I have had mixed results honing to remove hotspots and while sometimes better, they usually (allways) return. Ymmv. Other than wildly annoying and somewhat unsettling, they will stop the car, and I carry them as a spare.

Shop called again this morning. Said the rotors should not be turned. They ordered two new ones for the front. Should be ready for pickup tomorrow. I bought this car new and the brakes have mostly been babied so they never got very hot.
Seems like I have a pretty good dealer so far.

New rotors installed. Give the shop A+. Zero vibration at any speed.
Pricey suckers, seen the final bill at $1500 and change. Gotta love a good warranty.
