2019 vs 2020 2ss NON-cosmetic changes

I am wondering if anyone could help me understand what, if any, changes were made to the 2020 MY vs 2019. 2019s are heavily discounted now, so it seems like a good idea to get a 2019 and then just put on the 2020 front bumper, and save some $$. Was anything updated between those two model years - infotainment, A10 tune? I saw in one thread that 2019 were tuned to have more pops/crackles, which is why I'm now wondering if anything else changed.

I don't know if it was me you are referring to or not, but the npp exhaust on the 19 1le and 2ss vert definitely had more pops and crackles in the exhaust to my ears. The npp exhaust on my 2020 sounds great as well, though. Just minus the verbals.

I don't know of any other changes.

I went from a 2016 SS to a 2019 SS ....definitely more pops and crackle from the exhaust. both of mine are NON-NPP cars.
But sorry I cant help on the changes for 2019 to 2020 cars, I think that I have only seen maybe 2 of the 2020 around where I live

Just curious... Why do people like the exhaust to crackle and pop? I've seen a lot of people on here talk about it doing that and how they love it.

Mine does it every time I drive it, and my car is loud af, but, what's the excitement (don't really know what other word to use at the moment, it's early) factor over it?

I don't think it's a good or bad thing, but isn't it the car just running a little rich for a moment? I don't know. My Cobra never really did it. Anyway, I was just curious as to why so many like it.

I think, like a lot of things with cars, it’s a personal opinion. Some like it some don’t. I like it because, to me it makes the car sound mean and gives it a little “attitude” when downshifting or decelerating. Mine will do it, but I can control it pretty well, so it mostly only does it when I want it to. Just my two cents.

Perfect answer, it's what you like and that's all that matters. By the way, I really like the way my 2019 exhaust sounds. It's much better than my 2015 Vette with the same motor sounded.

given the target af on a stock tune car, i’m surprised it doesn’t blow the exhaust off the damn thing.

I can understand that for sure. Like I said, for me it's not a good thing and certainly not a bad one, and I am starting to like it more each time I drive it. Sounds pretty mean, plus I got 800 ponies backing up that sound which doesn't hurt! Thanks man.

I think it's because it used to be cool (because racekar) before manufacturers started adding it into the stock tune. Now most sports cars have the feature, but I still like it as long as it's not too predictable. My fiat Abarth had the most satisfying pops because they were random and took effort to trigger, but my Focus RS would do it all the time and it was so predictable that it became old within about a month.

That being said, I am not just wondering about the pops and crackles. I am wondering if there's a benefit to seeking out 2020s vs 2019. 2019 are on the lots in all colors and option packages, whereas I am having a harder time finding a fully loaded 2020 2ss that's not overpriced. If all it takes to make the 2019 into a 2020 is the middle bumper bar, then it may be worth it.

you could probably have the dealer make the conversion as part of the sale.it looks like all youd really need to do is paint the black part body color.

only found this.
http://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/chevr...-new-features/

basically, other than some non-cosmetic package changes...it looks like we'll have to wait and see what forum members find. I imagine, it'll be less drivetrain changes and more electrical / electronic changes if anything. I wouldn't count those as cosmetic.

Not that I'm aware of.

Any Body Shop will paint that bar for around a hundred bucks. Or you can just wrap it in vinyl for even less.

May want to check on 18s even, cuz they're still few floating around the dealerships in my area

Some posters have also noticed the sound tube (name?) missing on their 2020 SS's. But it doesn't seem to be every car iirc

Depending on what options you are getting one change is the rear view mirror camera was moved from the spoiler to the antenna. This allows the 1LE models to still have the camera option in the 2020 MY where it couldn't in the 2019.
