Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum here, thanks for having me! I didn’t want to steal this thread but I also didn’t want to start a new one just yet. I’ve researched a bunch of good wheel and tire setups on here, but there’s one thing I can’t find... Is it possible to get snow tires or at the very least all-season tires that will just fit on the stock 1LE wheels? I’m not good with tire/wheel sizing but I found the tire measurements off the Goodyear site for the Eagle f1 super car 3 and found matching all season tires on tire rack. Not sure if they would fit or if I’m missing something? I daily drive it but will not drive it in the snow. Not sure if I can post a link or not, but these are all season tires with the same measurement as the eagle f1’s. So would these in fact fit? Sorry for lack of intelligence on my part lol. Thanks for any help.

I'm looking at those as well.
I'm interested in those tires. I went to a Firestone Complete Auto Care this weekend to try to get a set. They guy checked his warehouse and said he didn't have any on the east coast. I was told that Firestone Complete Auto Care and Bridgestone were the same company so I thought they would have the best inventory. I also saw that Tirerack is out of the 305s. I am looking for some and afraid it is going to get cold here in Atlanta before I can find a set. I'd like to drive yearround. If you get a set before I do, please let us know how they work on the front. Everyone says they should clear. I have an SS 1LE and I think you have a little more fender than I do but I think we are the same on the inside dimensions, etc.

hi guys, i live in Montreal. i m looking into driving my 1ss 1le occasionally it gets super cold, and everyone around me thinks i lost my mind!
sottozero are 2900 CAD no way i m buying that lol did anyone fit snow tires on the actual wheel? all season are not allowed in quebec. this may help others, my tires supplier recommended that we go with smaller tires and wheels here is the set up he recommended: 245-40-19 TOYO GSI 6 wheels 19*9.5 offset 35 i rather install tires on stock wheels, any insight? i was reading the thread and most of recommendations were all weather tires. thanks a bunch Last edited by pippo; 10-31-2018 at 01:38 PM. Without spending a lot of money Snow tires for factory size are expensive. Also you wouldn't want to use snow tires in the summer. The cost you will have in remounting tires 2 times a year plus balance and the risk they'll damage your wheel doing that often I recommend a second set of wheels. Also an offset of 35 would require a large spacer up front and you would need new studs then. I ended up going with the MMR M716 19"x10 et23 all around so that I can rotate the tires and maximize there life. I ended up with 4 wheels with tires and TPMS and spent $2211

Another option is try and find some 20" RS tackoff rims. 245 20's are not as badly priced and at least have a selection for winter tires. I only know of the Sotozero II in the Stock SS size. When I was looking 19's were not all that much cheaper then 20's in 245/275. You had to get to 18's get some savings, but depends on you if you like the look.

May I ask about delivery?
May I ask what they told you about delivery? Did Tirerack indicate they had those tires and they would ship at any specific date? I really would like to get a set and I'm not having much luck. In fact, I'm told they are not currently in production. They indicate they will start production but it will be a while as they are cranking out snow tires, etc. currently.

You know I had the same question. I guess I can always take them off to clean them. I’m not a fan of the felt because it can hold moisture I wish it was air tight and made of plastic. I shoot water under there and scrub the underneath with a degreeser when the temps are above 40.

I got my winter wheels and tires on my car finally. I went with a square setup.
Tires are Michelin Pilot Alpins in 285/35-19s. Wheels are Drag DR-73 with a 30mm offset. I used a 5mm spacer on the fronts. They still are more inset that the summer wheels and tires, but for winter, I'm okay with losing a few mm (3mm in the front with the spacers, and 6mm in the rear). I considered adding spacers to the rear too, but I'm okay with them the way they are. If I'm going to get rock chips, I'd rather they happened on the track than from winter driving. So having them stick out a bit less is okay. I got them at Discount Tire. When I went in to get them mounted, the guy looked them up and said, "Whoa! We don't usually see totals that high." The tires are expensive. The wheels were $188 each. They look okay. I was hoping they'd look better, but they'll do. Side view, though the fronts are turned slightly.

I went with performance winter tires specifically and thought a studless snow and ice tire would be softer but Discount Tire were saying these PA4's are very soft? Wouldn't X-ice 3's be softer? Sense they never wrote down my mileage they are replacing them under the warranty. I also picked this size to not be to narrow or to wide and to be slightly taller than stock to gain a smidgen of ground clearance so I'm not really looking forward to selecting a new tire, as I went with a 9.5" wheel over a 9" specifically to accommodate mild performance driving on the 265 performance winter tire. Most other tires only come in a 255. Also they fit perfect with the 20mm offset. How does the Alpin 5 compare to the Alpin PA4 N-Spec... I couldn't find a comparison anywhere.... |
