I realize that I am voting against the popular opinion here but IMHO this car was meant to be pure muscle. Seriously, an A6, I don't get it!? You're missing out if you do. I rented an SS A6, drove it down the PCH and then bought my 2SS/RS M6. Right this minute I am sitting in on the beach after driving from Reno NV to the coast, down the Pacific Coast Highway (1) through LA (Stop n Go) and to San Diego over 2 days. The perfect trip with my lady. This car is also my daily driver. Half the fun is being able to drop the clutch and slamming through the gears! Just my opinion, but every time a gear head asks about her (Cynthia), first question is about the engine and the second is always about the tranny... No regrets.

And if you're honest, the guy asking is Joe Dirt, really young and still patting himself on the back for learning the incredibly difficult task of shifting, or trailer trash.

And what do you mean by pure muscle? I've added nearly 200 ponies to mine. So it's not pure muscle?

I drove a manual tranny for 20 years. Thrill is gone. I grew out of it. I'd prefer to win at the strip.

YES, it's fun to row gears. But it's old to me. Been there, done that.

First poster here, and I definitely voted yes on this one. I've been driving the same car (Corolla) for almost 10 years now and am definitely wanting to make my first new car purchase a good one. I love the Camaros and having the ZL1 in automatic would be awesome for me. I'm no enthusiast or anything like that, just a college grad wanting one bad ass car

Welcome to the site. Nice to get some more Bama love in here.

You're gonna go from a Corolla to a ZL1?

Yup, that's what I would love to do but we'll see. Just graduated as a pharmacist and still trying to get my life together before I go off and buy an expensive car... but ya, definitely looking into this one.

EDIT: oh and thanks for the welcome :P

I've said this before and I'll say it again. I would love to know the age of the people that voted for and against the auto. Would be interesting bit of info.

I've been rowing gears for 30 years. I still love it...always will.

I voted no but not because I dont' want to see an auto.I'm more concerned about manuals being phased out. I've always have had a manual car and would like to have the option in the future.

So let me get this right,
You want an option for a manual in the future but you don't want to give the auto guys an option?
Hmmmm

That's all I'm saying. I learned to drive a stick in my old man's 67 Lemans (Which I still have BTW) and it just never gets old or more fun. Like I said, just my opinion (since it's an opinion poll) and I respect others (67%) right to dissagree.

I voted yes because I believe it should be an option available. I think the base price Zl1 should come with as a standard with a ST shifter. But, I would like to see the auto as an option for customers who do not want to drive a standard. Of course like the current Gen 5's if you purchase an auto there would be a price increase for this option. To be honest I am not sure which option I would choose, love the feeling of driving a standard but the auto's are very fast shifting and durable. We wait and see...

For the survival of the manuals a sacrifice may be needed.

I've lost all my stick options in my other cars. I'm a little bitter
