Shift knob adapter?
Hi gang, I forgot about this shifter ball from a 2002 SS. Does anyone know if there is a adapter I can use to install on my 2010 M6 with stock shifter? Tread pitch is 5/8 18.
Bought at Turkey Rod Rum a few years ago, it was his last one, claimed he could no longer make them because Mr. Bowtie came after him about copy right infringement. Cool knob Bowtie appears to be floating under the acrylic. |

Cutting threads on a Stock Shifter Shaft

This is a write up I did way back in 2011. It worked well for me and is still rock solid. |

It don’t come easy.

Would have went that route when I made mine but, was thinking about going with a Raceseng ball and those are 3/4 - 16. The OP having a 5/8 - 18 thread will more than likely have to make or find one (none that I know of, sorry) as the stock shifter doesn’t have enough meat for that thread size.

Just like others have said, I used a die on my stock shifter rod. Works like a charm, there’s a very in-depth write up somewhere here that I used and I followed it exactly and it turned out fine! Here’s an attached photo on how it might look when you’re done.
