There's many, especially on the east coast here where I am. Hennesey has had a bad rap in the past, was sued, bunch of other issues with John. Doesn't make them a bad place, im just saying many places do exactly what they do for much cheaper. Like i said your build is nothing special. Cam, Heads, Headers etc. |

I'm not including mom and pop shops in this discussion, but if a national shop sells 200 hp for a lot less $$,$$$ they're idiots. They should use close to HPE and LPE's prices or perhaps as much as 10% less. I spoke with Katech, LPE, LMRC and others and their price/hp was close to the same but with no warranty. In fact, LMRC quoted a higher price w/o warranty. A warranty for our cars has to be worth a couple of grand. It would cost them, what, 10K to replace a nuked 850 engine depending? IMO, HPE's package is special in that it adds 200 hp with little if any additional heat and doesn't make the engine work very hard.

There were a ton of people that got burnt REAL bad by John at Hennessey. That was not so long ago that this community remembers what he did to us.
Sounds like things have done a 180 there, I just mention what I do for some perspective on why so many hate Hennessey. At one point they were possibly the worst shop in the country. It will take a LONG time to improve that image in this community sadly.

I've known Hennessey for 25 years as one of America's top high performance builders and don't know anything about people getting burned.
All I know is they did exactly what/when they said they would for me. When I called them about the car short shifting, they sent a hauler to get it at their expense. It turned out to be nothing. I am very pleased with my 850 car. It's a lot of un. Quote:

It gives the car a very nice low RPM growl (deeper tone than NPP) and when you jump on it...it is loud but a good aggressive loud...not stupid loud IMHO Question for "Camaro1973"...with the Borla S Type you have valves but how are they controlled? Does the Borla system hook up to the car so that the current modes switch can control the valves?

Hi yes, it uses the same NPP design as stock so you control it the normal way via the 4 presets. |

That was my understanding but I thought it would be best to hear it from someone who has actually experienced it. Still trying to decide on "Upper" or "Lower" pulley first and then will start putting this build together.

Thanks! Pretty much have decided to go Lingfelter Lower Pulley along with Kooks headers, Kooks green cats, Borla S Type exhaust, Weapon X heat exchangers (need them here in AZ) and a few other things for my first round.

Reading your mod questions, have you considered getting an extra pcm and having it programmed with a tune? That way you don't lose your warranty and keep the hpe tune in the stock computer. |
