Holy cow. So Pat, lately of Atco Street Car Wars fame, got tired of his likely 10.4 second in mineshaft air supercharged 2015 GT and traded it for his old 10.7 second 2013 Mustang GT. He said it was just too easy to make the 2015 really fast so he decided to swap his 2015 GT for his old 2013 GT and build it back up again. He just showed up at my house to buy back the DRs he sold me. He is a wildman!

Here is a pic from last year of the GT when his high 10 second GT was dueling with my twin turbo 1LE. Guess who won most of the time?

A heavier and IRS equipped 2015 GT is easier to make go fast than a lighter solid axle 2013 car?

Hmmm. Nothing ive seen from the mustang community seems to reflect this opinion. The s197 is regarded as the best platform for the strip by most of them. Some of the s550 owners with head in the sand will argue...but the numbers and what the cars have done so far its obvious which is superior at the strip.

If he really wants a challenge going fast get a 4.6 2v

Yeah, as a multiple former Mustang owner/racer a S550 is definitely not as easy to make fast at the drag strip as a S197...

Trade a brand new 10.6 car for a tired 10.7 (in perfect conditions) car doesn't make any sense to me. The old S197 probably has 400 passes on it. I do enjoy the comments about how the S550 is such a hard car to make go fast on this forum though.

You all are lucky if you are drag racing at a DA level of 441. In the middle of Oahu it is over 1000.

I said it was harder than its s197 counterpart. And most would agree with me.

Or are you going to argue that the addition of IRS and another 100 lbs made the car faster/better suited for the dragstrip?

I never said it was hard to make fast. Over in LA LA land the Camaro is only .2 faster than the GT and doesn't respond to mods. Hint...we get 35 rwhp from an e85 tune...get used to the tail lights tune for tune. The gap wont change at all or possibly get worse tune only.

Yea, I agree. But stock Pat was equally fast in both the S197 and his S550 stock and lightly modded. The difference was in the end his S550 was making 625 at the wheels and his S197 500. I think his S550 scared him. Because of its harsh tune it was a handful. Even on his 10.6 runs he had to back off shifting into second. That car needs slicks for whatever reason.

And one more thing, his S197 is for sale. It has like 16,000 miles. It was only driven on Tuesdays and Fridays by a little old man. LOL. Anyone interested?

He says he wants a grey CA6 SS next to play with that. As for me I really liked his '15 GT. It was such a nice car to drive and of course was very fast. I would have put in a quieter catback and softened the tune if it were mine. It is a very bad pretty boy.

All I can tell you is. I've owned both S197GT and S550GT personally. They ran the exact same 12.4 on a 93 octane tune only. The 100 pound weight advantage is negated by the power advantage the S550 has! I also haven't lost to any of the several 16 Camaros I've raced. They are real fast on the internet. Not as fast At Atco for some reason? They all must not be running the right bolt ons & tune according to you. I'm not going to Mess up Marks thread argueing with internet racers. So PMs from here on out if you want to continue

Uh oh....keep it civil boys!!! LOL

Looks like best on the Mustang6G fast list is a 12.5 and 112. That's a good half second off the mark.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread!

I own a supercharged S550 Mustang myself, and I am working on trying to acquire a 2016+ 1SS to put a Magnuson 2.3L on.

I have a 2.3L TVS on my S550 and have gone 8's@154 thus far. I am one of the few that thinks it is easier to make the S550 faster than the previous generation Mustangs

I want to see an all out effort 2.3 TVS CA6. Like really bad.
