Apparently Porsche didn't get the memo that track performance is useless to 99.999% of car buyers and that the new benchmark is roll racing from 50 mph.
Nice car. I bet it turns heads just cruising down the street too.

GM could learn from Porsche's product reveal tactics. The car isn't officially revealed yet and we know what it looks like, how much it costs, and its ring time.

Actually, Porsche Track Model Cars get used quite a bit. At this last weekend's PCA Race at Sebring there were over 150 GT3s and close to 600 Cars overall

It was sarcasm aimed at those that insist cars with real handling capabilities are useless to average guys and that ring times are meaningless other than to be used as fanboy fodder.

ZR1 - 7:19 Z06 - 7:22 Z/28 - 7:37 ZL1 - 7:41 GM re ran both Corvettes in 2011 And pretty sure they haven't run a 1LE which would likely be 7:50ish for a crap load less than a Cayman GT4

Did you view their article? Go ask Autoguide.... they likely just compiled times from N'ring wiki page. To stir up the pot too I presume... and GM's vs. Porsche's in terms of build quality and amenities are arguably worlds apart thus you get what you pay for.

looks great in red.
from the article: We already know how the sportscar is going to look like and all the technical specifications but it was not spotted in all its glory until janb_photography got lucky enough to spot this sportscar resting near the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen. This Porsche Cayman GT4 is finished in a special Carmine Red color. 6 pictures in the gallery . |

I don't buy that "get what you pay for" when it comes to Porsche anymore. I think your paying for the name more than anything. No way could anyone convince me that a Porsche that cost the same as or more than a Z06 is better than a 3LT Vette much less a 3LT Z06. I also think track times are very misleading when comparing cars. Unless the times posted were tested against another car on the same day by the same driver I take track times with a grain of salt. For instance depending on DA I can run .3 tenths slower or faster at my local drag strip depending on the DA that day. That's just a 1\4 mile lasting around 12 seconds. I can't imagine what the difference would be in a race that takes over 7min.
